Hi everyone I thought this would be a fun thing to do for my birthday here. So go ahead, ask me questions about my life, ask for advice, anything about ORGs, Survivor, TV, sports, homosexuality and Christianity, literally anything! Go for it!
(I won't do a game mode thing on the side because I respect the sanctity of Sammy's original ideas).
My favourite food changes a LOT, but for now I think I'll keep it simple and go with tacos.
I don't really have any massive life regrets. I think I wish I was more social in high school but that's something that's easy to say in hindsight but difficult to do when I was dealing with a lot of different immature personalities that didn't really mesh with mine at all.
That is Tyler Posey, who plays Scott McCall on a show called Teen Wolf. I've never watched a second of that show, but cjn104 would call me Scott McCall all the time so I decided to adopt it as my site persona.
What is the best tv show you've ever had the pleasure of watching and why is it the leftovers
Well I still think the best TV show I've watched is Mad Men as I stated earlier in the thread if you paid attention >:c.
That said I think the most rewarding TV experience is to start a show not knowing whether it will end up being good or not and watching it blossom into something great. And while I use so much critic's input that this doesn't happen to me very often one time it did was watching the first season of Orphan Black, which is an answer I'm sure you'd appreciate.
Because when it comes down to it, I can't make myself less privileged. I'm always going to be white, I'm upper middle class, I'm reasonably healthy both in terms of body and mind, I've never struggled with mental illnesses such as depression or anything like that. I've been fortunate to have a pretty high level of intelligence that made getting through school and finding a career relatively easy. I can't change any of that.
But what I can do is try to do whatever I can to make the lives of those who have been not nearly as fortunate as mine better. And that's my ultimate goal in life, and sometimes I get sidetracked and I really don't put as much effort into it as I should or that I want to. But if you want to ask who my inspirations are it's those people who do that, those people who commit fully to it. And I wish that I could give myself the motivation to do more and to try more to achieve good in people's lives than I do now.
This is going to get rambly. I think the people that have inspired me most are the people who are able to consistently look past their own circumstances and be able to empathise with others regardless of how different they are.
I think growing up in religion is a big basis for this, as I believe this is the main principle that is brought forward by Jesus, but it carries through non-religious literature as well.
I think the example I'll use is Atticus Finch from "To Kill A Mockingbird" for instance and the main thing that makes him such a hero is his ability to use his situation to try to achieve justice for someone completely different from him, someone who has nothing in common. And I think there's critics who say that "well a book about Civil Rights made the white privileged male the hero -come on" but that's because sometimes that help from those people in power are needed.
if you could go back in time 5 years what's one thing you would tell your younger self
Probably that you can't control your feelings about things or people or whatever, and not to spend so much time stressing out over whether what you feel is normal. I would spend so much time getting so wound up and upset with myself because of how I felt about stuff and I just have to let that go and worry about my actions instead.
lmao how hilarious was anthony being unable to use the PoV on himself at F7 to you as a host
It's funny in hindsight, at the time it was more sad, Anthony had done all this work to win the POV and he was so excited about it, and then to have it all pulled out from under him and become the sad puppy who's owner didn't have time to play with him anymore was not all that fun to watch.
tell me one of your favorite hosting moments in an org
Probably watching EMBB4 week 4 unfold, where Stephen had this whole plan in place to get Nat to nominate him, which would in turn put Nat on the block - and then JacobV leaked it all to Nat for really no good reason in what was probably the biggest "WTF holy crap" moment that really dictated the course of the game from that point forward.
What are some of the best movies/TV shows you have watched, or books you have read? Have a great day sir
I think the books I've found the best recently are the ones written by a little known author named Robert Jackson Bennett, they're fantasy in the way I prefer fantasy to be nowadays, metaphorical with large ties to big concepts that we deal with everyday. I particularly recommend American Elsewhere as a good start point, though his best work is his City of Stairs trilogy.
For TV shows my favourite is still Mad Men, I think it's an in depth exploration of change throughout one's life.
For movies if you want something funny What About Bob? is my absolute favourite, though my sense of humour doesn't seem to line up with the general EM sense. I also really love Cloud Atlas as a more serious movie, because I love when movies go for big ambitious ideas - I always love watching stuff that I've seen nothing like it before.
