I like to imagine Jerry Jones living on a plantation in the mid-1700's. It's a sweltering hot day, the sun beating down on the backs of the dozens of negroes he's purchased over the years. Whenever one of his prime black specimens falls to their knees, exhausted, Jones brandishes a cat o' nine tails and lashes them across the back, screeching something akin to "YA GOTTA RESPEK DA FLAG"
the reason people are mad is because despite every protester saying numerous times "this has nothing to do with the flag or the military" people still think it is about the flag and the military. what's funny though is the people who fought and died for america fought and died for our freedom of choice and freedom to protest the government.

why should people care that black people continue to be murdered by police without cause?
why should people care that there are institutions and processes which empower and teach people to murder with a badge and uniform - and then protect them after they kill?
why should people care that like other settler nation-states, america's freedom and governance exists on the stolen land of many sovereign Native American peoples who continue to be oppressed, who continue to have treaties ignored or made, who have yet to have massacres and genocides acknowledged, and who have yet to receive justice?
