How much you win will depend on the score of the judges. There will be 3 judges, and they will be basing your score on 3 things: creativity, grammar/flow, and whether or not the content itself actually makes sense when read as a story. Each will be on a scale of 1-10, meaning that each judge’s evaluation is worth 30 points for a total score of 90.

1-30/90: $0
31-50/90: $5
51-70/90: $10
71-85/90: $12
86-90/90: $15

If it is someone’s turn and they are not available, you must wait 3 hours for them to post. If they do not post their sentence within 3 hours, you may skip their turn in exchange for -2 points off of your total judge’s score.

THE RULES
-No speaking out of turn. If you submit a sentence and it is not your turn, or you say something OTHER than a sentence for the story, you will receive a 5 point deduction from your total judge’s score.
-You may only submit ONE SENTENCE. If you need clarity on what counts as a sentence, ask the hosts. The general rule is that if it ends in a period and the next letter needs to be capitalized, IT'S PROBABLY A SENTENCE. If you submit more than a sentence, you will receive a 2 point deduction from your total judge's score.
-As I said before, your content must be ORIGINAL, not plagiarized. We will be checking it, and if you are found to have been plagiarizing, everyone will fail the challenge immediately.

BUT WAIT... THERE'S MORE!

There will also be an exemption up for grabs. When it’s your turn to message a sentence to the chat, you may choose to instead say “EXEMPTION” into the storytime chat. When someone says EXEMPTION, the challenge will immediately end, everyone will be removed from the chat, and everything before that point will be submitted for judging. This can only be done in the first 24 hours, meaning there is no longer an exemption available after 10AM on October 2nd. If you receive the exemption, you will be immune from execution in the quiz following this challenge.

Your goal is to write a story together as a group. It can be about whatever you want, it’s completely up to you. You may begin brainstorming for this challenge now, but your 48 hours will not begin until 10am.

At 10am tomorrow morning, you will all be added to a chat. You may not speak in this chat unless it is to contribute a sentence to your story.

You will all have to take turns contributing a sentence. You may not submit more than one sentence at a time, and everyone must submit a sentence before you can submit again. You may determine your own order to best suit each other’s needs. This order must be decided before 10am when the competition starts.

EXAMPLE: Ally, Fred, Izzy, and Anthony are participating. I’m using the text from the fairy tale Three Little Pigs for an example.

Ally: There was an old sow with three little pigs, and as she had not enough to keep them, she sent them out to seek their fortune.
Fred: The first that went off met a man with a bundle of straw, and said to him: 'Please, man, give me that straw to build a house.'
Izzy: Which the man did, and the little pig built a house with it.
Anthony: Presently came along a wolf, and knocked at the door, and said: 'Little pig, little pig, let me come in.'

They would then begin again with Ally. Although my example was not original content, YOURS MUST BE. YOU MAY NOT PLAGIARIZE AN EXISTING STORY.

The competition will run from 10 AM on October 1st to 10 AM on October 3rd. At the time the competition is over, you will all be removed from the chat and the contents will be passed along to a set of judges.
