Album Discussion Thread

almost 7 years

This is a thread for people to review/discuss albums that they/others have posted.

Previous album threads were just posting album covers with little to no information about the album. (Some albums don't even have the album/band name on them)

Here's the format to follow if you want to post:

  • Band Name - Album Name (If you post the album art you can skip these if they're in that)

  • Genre

  • Why you like this album

Feel free to add more than that if you want.

Good thread thanks

Bladee - Gluee
Hip hop (Cloud rap)

This album is one of the best releases in the cloud rap genre, cementing Bladee as a standout artist hallmarked by his almost overuse of autotune, dreamy production from Whitearmor and signature lyrical aestheticism.

If you'd like to try something new in terms of hip hop or rap, I'd suggest giving Gluee a try. If you can get past some of the oddities (the aforementioned use of autotune, to name just one), you'll be rewarded with a solid album, which also happens to be a debut.

Best track(s): Safehouse, Spellbound, Ebay, Unreal

Heathen - Victims of Deception

Technical Thrash Metal

One of my favorite albums. Clean technical thrash reminiscent of a more melodic ...And Justice For All.

Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa

She describes the genre as "dark pop"
I'm not a huge fan of pop music by any means, but this chick is the total package. Her voice is amazing, every song is catchy asf & the lyrics are dope. She can produce ballads, bops, anthems, as well as amazing music videos (New Rules video is fire). Plus she's only 21 like whew queen

Best Songs: Genesis, Blow Your Mind, IDGAF, New Rules, Begging, Lost In Your Light, Thinking 'Bout You

Lil B - 6 Kiss
Hip hop (Cloud rap)

This 2009 album, along with Viper's 2008 album "You'll Cowards Don't Even Smoke Crack" pioneered the genre that is today known as cloud rap, earning its name from Lil B pointing to an image of a castle in the clouds and remarking "I want to make music like that".

For a release almost 10 years ago, 6 Kiss was far ahead of its time, as with many Lil B releases, rappers are doing this sort of thing today while the style was done years ago by Lil B himself.

This album features ethereal, dreamlike beats; often sampling Imogen Heap's 'Just For Now', being produced partially by Clams Casino. This album was unlike anything Lil B had done before in his career (I'm Thraxx and his work with The Pack) and was the start of him consistently changing his style.

Best track(s): I'm God, B.O.R. (Birth of Rap), I'm the Devil
