I think, in the name of progressiveness, rather than oppressing young African Americans by forcing them to stop the crimes they have worked hard to commit, we should strive to help the crime rates of other ethnic groups catch up.
tbh if you want to fix the problem with crime in poor families (mostly black) you can only fix that through welfare because it's a money problem that leads to crime that further leads to unstable households
Statistically, a poor white male now has the worst chance at attending college, and even leaving poverty.

Historical reasons left racial differences in wealth and education. Those born of a less wealthy, less educated family are more likely to continue the trend, and thus are more likely to commit crime.
