does anyone know a good documentary that is free or i l l e g a l l y downloadable, any socio-political one will do or a historical one if its like hella good, i basicly watched all the good stuff from filmsforaction so im BORED
u miss the point, its comparive wealth that matters, lythe studies im reffering to, show no links to absolute wealth and violence rates among developed nations, only when considering economic inequality did the correlation appeared
i ve watched more docs by that guy and i now want adam curtis to adopt me and be my dad now, i will even get a british accent no matter how much i hate it
glad you liked it, its one of the more well known documentaries for good reason i think. :) i think i liked where to invade next more but they're both great michael moore docs
i honestly thought bowling for columbine was gonna be just a anti-gun doc, guns r bad and all that shite. goddamn i was wrong, really good, lmao i really like when they played americana. charlton heston is a d1ck, i hate grading things so i will only say really good, there have been studies showing correlations between homicide rates and economic inequality but the doc was long at it was, and it was good as it was just a comment, this one is def good reccomended
i think its my favorite Michael Moore doc :) pretty interesting
What are some other ones you've seen that you liked?
if u mean michael moore's one i think thats the only one i saw, i like michael moore but uk i get most docs from yt and his most i would have to download if u mean in general, and i suppose i should make my own list even though the thread is honestly me asking 4 docs and not really a docs thread here r some manufacturing consent is the bomb 4 me the world according to mosanto is awesome too zeitgeist is good cause it approaches a lot of things shock doctrine is cool too and to finish zapatista, i mean ratm soundtrack in a doc is just cool af AND BEST OF ALL 4 ME ALL ON YOUTUBE
I really like Zeitgeist but I always feel a little crazy recommending it to someone not sure why lol
Maybe because 1/3rd of the movie is devoted to blaming September 11th on the Bush administration

lol yea exactly if u like think about it the synopsis of zeitgeist (the first movie at least) is basically christianity is a sham, 9/11 was an inside job n the fed is run by a group of rich people.... sound a little wacko when u say it like that though so thats why i dont like recommending it lol
Inside Job or Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room then

I like Manufacturing Consent too! I really like Zeitgeist but I always feel a little crazy recommending it to someone not sure why lol
I'm gonna look into Zapatista, sounds interesting from what I've seen. Also yeah, I think a lot of these I watched on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Hulu and I'm in the US so I can imagine it'd be difficult to get ahold of some of these without torrenting :(
REQUIEM FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM is the definitive discourse with Noam Chomsky, on the defining characteristic of our time - the deliberate concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a select few.
those docs i watch i will post my opinion, is just from the overview those seems like dox i will have to get through torrent and that takes a little bit of time
i think its my favorite Michael Moore doc :) pretty interesting

I Know That Voice (2013) - A documentary about voice acting in American animation. A bunch of interviews about the voice acting scene plus its got some REALLY cool scenes like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXC_j5QB6v8 Love this doc.
The Imposter (2012) - A mysterious documentary. I don't wanna say too much but it's about some kid that goes missing and comes back... sort of. Super interesting, sort of unbelieveable at times.
The Woman Who Wasn't There (2012) - Not a great actual documentary, but the subject matter is interesting. A woman who claims to be a 9/11 survivor but takes it to the extreme.
Not sure if you can edit posts on EM but I'll add more if I think of any other cool ones :)

Where To Invade Next (2015) - "To learn what the USA can learn from other nations, Michael Moore playfully "invades" them to see what they have to offer." I love this documentary just because it's kind of interesting to see how other countries deal w/ some of the things people say are about the United States. I think it also has a nice, kind of light tone since it's showing positive stuff about other countries. Kinda neat, sorta preachy again but a good watch.
Miss Representation (2011) - Admittedly didn't love this one, but there's some comedy and interesting stuff in there so it's not too bad to watch. About sexism in the media etc and has lots of famous people on it.
In terms of NON-Political documentaries theres a couple that I think are definitely worth check it out:
Blackfish (2013) - A pretty popular documentary about Sea World and specifically one of their Orca whales. (who just died recently actually) I guess the Orca has killed two people before and it goes into that and talks about the conditions that Sea World keeps their whales in. Pretty cool.

NOTE: I started typing this before you said you've watched all the good stuff from filmsforaction so theres stuff in here you've probably already seen, I'm gonna just finish this post and hopefully someone will get some use out of it :)
Recommending socio-political documentaries can be difficult because depending on the person, some of the enjoyment of a documentary comes from the views expressed in the documentary aligning w your own views. I don't necessarily agree with some of the narratives or views taken in some of the ones I'm recommending BUT I think they're interesting anyway and fun to watch -
Bowling for Columbine (2003) - I think pretty much anyone who's watched a couple of documentaries has seen this one BUT I will mention it if you haven't. It explores "the primary causes for the Columbine High School massacre on April 20, 1999 and other acts of violence with guns." It's kind of preachy and has drawn heavy criticism (which I personally haven't looked into but I know it's out there) but it was one of the first real MAINSTREAM documentaries so it's worth looking into! Also kinda funny at points I think, they do a couple of animations by the dudes who made South Park. Not as much about Columbine but more about gun violence in general. Pretty solid regardless of your views on guns or whatever.
Waiting for Superman (2010) - Not a perfect documentary but it addresses interesting points about the American education system. (still interesting if you aren't American I think)
