songwriting: 10/10 the raw poetic elements and sound devices used in the lyrics are top-notch, phenomenal, great, amazing, lovely, soothes my poetic brain. great approach with the message composition: 8/10 nothing special that stands out musically but love the instruments boi for that upbeat vibe iykwim. i hate synthesized instruments so this is definitely a good thing.. smh. vocals: 10/10 giving anything lower than a 10 would not do them justice. so unique.. @everyone listen to this to see what i mean.
overall: 9.3/10, would definitely deserve a 9.5~10
ok... i'll start this by saying i love halsey to death but this single did not do her justice. songwriting: 3/10 compared to her room 93 EP or Badlands album these lyrics are a MAJOR downgrade, i can't even think of a more repetitive writing style with absolutely zero relatability or thought going into it- i get that it's pop... but still. composition: 2/10 this had never been her strong suit but for a very basic rhythm, again, annoyingly repetitive. the progression doesn't stray off too far from what she'd done before though.. it's her style vocals: 4/10 i only like autotune when it's done well.
songwriting: 7/10 not much to say here other than the fact that the lyrics are great for a theme that can be considered a bit overdone composition: 4/10 very basic predictable melody with a just as basic chord progression vocals: 9/10 this is the saving grace of this song, his vocal color and technique is so UGGH why does it remind me of hayley wlms (a teenybit)??? overall: 6.6/10 + 1 for the very *cute* bridge = 7.6
