eternal return

over 7 years

i watched a movie that mentioned this concept and i want to discuss about it

eternal return is the concept that the universe will inevitably and infinitely repeat itself. it's founded and defeated foremost on the concept of infinity, which paradoxically suggests that as the chance of this world existing is > 0 that therefore must mean, in an infinite universe, this world must repeat infinitely (any chance * infinity = infinity chance)

paradoxically because there is simultaneously an infinite chance our world will not reoccur, as there is a chance -> infinity (limit) that it doesn't. that and the fact that if the universe expands infinitely then how could it ever reach the point of return

what do you think about the theory of eternal return

Christopherzilla says

that doesn't sit well with my chaos theory

yes it does

chaos theory isn't random theory, every slight change that results in whatever chaotic consequences is still predetermined by the initial conditions of a system

i guess it depends on what you consider to be a closed system but there are better arguments against eternal return i think
