I have mixed emotions on Hannahs character but i really didnt like some of the reasons she blamed people for. Some tapes were less important than others and it seems like she blamed all of these kids for a decision she made entirely on her own. She not only blamed specific people for "killing her" but she shames them all in the process of spreading the tapes. Not everyone on the tapes deserved it and now some of their lives are completely ruined. Its high school, most of that stuff will happen to the average kid. She could have went about most situations a lot differently than she did. On another note its hard to hate her seeing that she was going through a lot and obviously mentally ill which can explain why she does most of the stuff she does. The book was 100% better imo

tbqh i felt the same way until about episode 4. the way she spoke to people even before all the s'hit happened to her annoyed me and, honestly, i couldn't empathize. i'm only on episode 6 but, i mean, i like her character more than i did at the start.
I think it's easy to see Hannah Baker the way others throughout her school saw her. And I think it's easy to call her a b*tch for being vengeful, for making tapes about people, blaming them for her death when it was her choice to take her own life. And I say easy bc it's not wrong to hold that opinion. Personally I found her likeable enough, but I definitely saw the way her tapes manipulated the people around her, like Clay I felt sympathy for most of those on the tapes. Because like Hannah they had their own stuff that went beyond the surface, but to Hannah it seemed like they did the things they did to hurt her, and at first it seemed like she tried to figure it out but lost against them so many times she gave up. Idk I try to see it as her outlook. This is a girl who felt like she had zero reason to live, a girl who had nothing but emptiness and despair for her own life. Enough that she decided the only thing else she could do was make sure she couldn't live anymore. I think if someone feels like that they can't give a f*ck about what they do/say to other people. In a way I can feel bad for someone who feels like that even if they do something that spiteful to try and gain back some control.
Something I noticed that was heartbreaking to me was the gradual dwindling of what made her Hannah Baker. Her personality completely disappeared the more and more stuff started to weigh on her. I just wanted to point that out bc I think that was really well done.

Oh yeah also it reminds me a lot of 500 days of summer and I think it's also similar but better than the already pretty great riverdale

I can't remember a time I've ever been as engrossed in a tv series as I am now. Wow. I'm coming off from a 12 hour shift and I'm literally fighting myself to go to sleep and not binge watch the whole thing
I realized halfway through that Hannah was mad emotional and sh1t but I just told myself the show wasn't about her but everyone around her (Clay/ her parents/ Jessica/ Courtney/ Zach/even Bryce..) and that gave the show more meaning.
I really loved these series, tempted to read the book now but I'm not sure since I've got a couple other books I want to read. I think you start liking her more after you seen what she's gone through
ya but is she still just as spiteful in the book? i assume she's still making tapes with the intentions of hurting others and not for a near death catharsis. like i guess just the tone of what she says is why it's so awful she's just taunting the people
yeah i'm only on episode 2 so idk what's to come but like...... she's just vengeful and i feel like all she wanted to do was hurt others so that they'd have the same problems she did that's so fuc'ked up lol
