Again, I am not in charge of the mentor system and have no power over who does or doesn't become a mentor, I was simply sharing my opinion.
I try really hard to be open and vocal about things done by the mods and have spent a significant amount of my free time handling reports and doing other mod duties. Just this afternoon I personally reviewed and banned two accounts for being GT/troll accounts
I didn't say that I was an angel and not toxic myself, nor did I even say that it was a bad thing. I was simply listing it as a reason for the decline in user base as I would just like to see comp have more players
we need more comp players and the only way we can do that is by bringing more people from red hearts so yes we are trying to fix the mentor system to help. If people want to learn on their own thats fine too pranay we arent going to force people to sign up for a mentor and as for "why cant anyone be a mentor" because lets face it we will have a page of people who are only there for the stupid little hat.

Personally, I think that the mentor system should be more driven towards bringing red heart/unranked players into comp and encouraging players to take it more seriously.
Players will get better just by playing over time on their own, but there's a pretty disparaging gap between new players and even decent players because learning/understanding basic game mechanics, how rounds work, and just the general play of competitive games is a lot to take in and the overall toxic atmosphere of comp tends to scare away most new players.
And you don't get to decide what a mentor will do. A mentor is free to decide what he wants to mentor. Because the mentee has chosen the mentor. If a new player has no mentor and asks the mods to assign one, then you can assign one of those mentors that you guys pick after discussing who is fit to be one.

Toxic atmosphere is because of players like you apropos. Don't make me pull out that game. Toxic atmosphere is because of gt accounts and cheaters like poser.
This isnt about that haro. Tell us why mods are deciding not to make certain people mentor? Mods think they are some kind of God and their opinion suddenly carries more value? A mod is just a player who has knowledge of rules and precedent and is willing to spend time on moderating. A mod's job is to moderate, not to play judge. A mod doesnt mean we have to respect them and value their opinion. I will respect your a$$ if you are worthy if it. Personally I think you are a piece of filth. You used your mod powers to transfer a trophy.

1- it's much better to mentor without using the mentor system. But it is my opinion. I recommend people to not use the mentor system
2- the mods have no control over who should be a mentor. If anyone wants to make a mentor mentee pair, a mod should blindly create one without discussing whether someone is fit to become a mentor or not.
3- I disagree with the whole teaching the basics thing by appointing mentors as it only creates narrow minded players who mimic the style of their mentors and develop the same bias. I believe in letting people learn by exploring their own selves by telling them how to do that. That way we will have new kind of players with new styles instead of a bunch of anime avi noobs who all subscribe to the same fundamentals of not lynching on mylo and nling so that they can get information from the gy.Let people develop their own bias towards stuff rather than passing your bias to them. I kmow jess will teach noobs to nl on mylo and they will not be able to determine which mylo they shouldn't nl on.
