I've given it some thought and decided that I am officially ending Buried in the Sand(box). If you would like the answer to who did it, feel free to inbox me. But I have no intention of finishing it anymore.
bebop doesn't want to die so either this will be discontinued or continues strictly on this thread
Just then, Bebop screams. You hear the gunshot and then a flare explode. It wasn’t just some random gun, it was a flare gun. Jamal lies on the ground, unmoving. His head fried from the explosion of the firey shot that was perhaps the only chance of survival.
“Bebop… what did you do?” Baabaa says, in shock of watching Jamal just get killed.
“They told me… They told me…” Bebop cries. “I had to do it for Merlot..”
“Don’t you realize that flare gun was our only chance of survival?! And now our chances are gone. We’re going to die out here!” yells Chris.
An insane, heartbroken Bebop just killed Jamal! What do we do?
1. Make Bebop walk the plank!
2. Throw him in jail and throw the key overboard!
3. Forget about Jamal, find out more about how Bebop got out!
You choose: Take a siesta
“All right, friends, let’s all hunker down and take a bit of a siesta…” you say. Jimbei hands out candles to everyone to put into your rooms for some light. You all head to your rooms. In one last attempt to make sure everyone says safe, you shout “Lock your doors!!”
*****you fall asleep****
You wake up to the sound of an enraged banging on a nearby door. “Jamal, open up!!!” Bebop yells. How did he escape!? You grab a candlestick holder and run out into the hallway, just as Jamal walks out. Others are opening their doors as well. Bebop is holding a bright red gun. “This is all your fault. I know what you did, pushing the bodies off the boat!”
“Uh, guys my keys are gone…” mutters Reamix. “I kind of didn’t lock my door?”
“What the hell, Reamix!” Jimbei yells.
“We do not have time for this, Bebop. There is a storm outside. We have to stay alive!” retorts Jamal. Bebop punches Jamal in the face, causing Jamal to fall on the ground. “Shameful! You really think violence is the best way to solve this?”
“You just pushed Merlot’s body off the boat like she was nothing! You obviously hate her! That’s why you killed her!” Bebop growls.
“If I were the murderer, I would not be this incompetent! Killing Merlot? She was defenseless and drunk. An easy target! I would go for something much more daring. Like you,” Jamal laughs.
New polls will now be out (at least) every 2 days!
“You fools think we have time for a fancy ceremony? We are all going to die either by this murderer or this storm. I am not spending my last moments crying over the death of users I could care less about. We need to save ourselves,” Jamal said, then promply pushing the boat off the ship. The bodies scatter on the top of the water the boat is empty. It begins to rain.
“What the F!CK Jamal!” Jimbei screams. The was a long silence, the only sound was the pattering of rain and a low grumble of thunder. “We can’t tell Bebop this happened…”
Just then, a strike of lightening. The boat sparks and a small bench catches fire. The boat is otherwise black. Baabaa shrieks. Amelio quickly grabs a fire extinguisher and extinguishes it. “Holy moly…” Reamix mutters.
“Um.. guys?” Jimbei mutters. “The lights are broken…”
“I told you we needed to fix that!” yelled Chris.
“What would be the point of fixing it if the lightening would probably break a working electric system too?” asks Jamal. “There is no way we’ll get it to work now, the system is probably fried.”
“I think we should maybe do some mediation between Bebop and Golbolco to try and make things settle down,” mentions Amelio.
“No, we need to make sure we don’t die,” retorts Jamal.
Do we worry about the storm or about the feud?
1) Hunker down the ship for the storm
2) Go to the jail room to mediate Bebop and Golb
3) Just have everyone go to their room for some nap time
You choose: Lock away Bebop and Golb, then have funeral.
“Lock them up…” you say reluctantly, “then we’ll have a funeral.”
Bebop looks you dead in the eyes and screams, “No. You’re not doing this. Let me stay, please let me stay.” He tries to fight Jimbei and Jamal’s grip with no avail. “I’m sorry Bebop, we need to make sure we can all stay safe and now I don’t know if we can be so with you and Golb acting as threatening as you are… Does anyone know where the boat jail is? Isn’t that a thing?”
“I saw one by the room where we found lucid,” Baabaa bleats.
“Okay so we’ll lock up Golb and Bebop and then we’ll bring up Lucid’s body,” Amelio says, looking at Reamix, Jimbei and Jamal who nod in agreement.
They go, carrying away the hysteric Bebop and Golbolco who has just given up, leaving you, Chris, and baabaa to yourselves. “So… how do you think we should send off the bodies?” you ask them, trying to make some awkward conversation.
“I was in sheep scouts when I was little, I could probably tie the bodies to one of those rowboats over there and cover with a sheet… that’s a pretty standard sailor funeral I think.”
“I’ve spoken at a memorial for dinosaurs before…. Maybe this won’t be that different. I could speak on behalf of the dead,” Chris suggested. You nodded, agreeing with both. You all grab a rowboat, setting Merlot and Platy in it, and just then Jamal and Amelio come up carrying Lucid, followed by Jimbei and Reamix. “I got the keys,” says Reamix. They see what you’re doing and put Lucid down in the rowboat. You set the rowboat down on front of the ship. It teeters on the edge. You look out in to the distance. The storms coming in faster than expected.
Hey guys sorry for the delay, new BITS tonight!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQn9rGj6zAIthank you barn for this moving, greyscale montage of those we've lost
“We need to get rid of these bodies…” Baabaa mentions.
“But we need to separate these two before they kill each other,” Reamix retorts.
“Well you’re not getting rid of my fiance’s body without me being here,” Bebop yells, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“We also need to ration out the food supply,” adds Jimbei, whose almost-green face shows much disgust with this situation. “Especially before we split up because we can’t have anyone stealing anything.”
Suddenly, a grumble of thunder is heard from the bow of the ship. You all look up to see a black storm on the horizon. “Sh*t…” mutters Jamal. “We have got to act fast, that doesn’t look good. We need to hunker down and stay safe!”
“Is anyone truly safe with this electricity problem?” mentions Chris. Everyone looks at you. You’ve have been calling the shots. What do you do?
1. Throw a funeral for those who have died with everyone here
2. Lock up Bebop and Golbolco where they can’t hurt anyone and then have a funeral
3. Sort out the food rations with Jimbei
4. Fix the electricity with Chris
5. Screw everything, lock down the boat and hide inside!
You choose: Restrain Golb AND Bebop to stay safe.
You motion towards Jamal and Chris to keep holding back Bebop, and instruct Reamix and Amelio restrain Golbolco. Bebop breaks free Chris’s short-armed grip and shuffles away from Jamal, “YOU KILLED HER, YOU TOOK TOO LONG ON PURPOSE YOU ASSH*LE IF YOU’RE NOT THE KILLER YOU BEST BE NEXT TO GO BEFORE I GET YOU FIRST!” Bebop throws a punch straight into Golbolco’s face. Luckily this time, no one’s nose is bleeding, but Golb’s cheekbone is pretty badly busted.
Jimbei switches with Chris after his tiny little dinosaur arms proved no help.
“We have no actual proof that Golb is the killer… but we rather be safe than sorry right?” Amelio says, there’s a shared nod between everyone. “What’s next?”
1 like = 1 respect for those who have fallen
*dramatic greyscale slideshow of lucid platy and merlot*
Bebop quickly grabs the medical kit and attempts to stop the bleeding. However, it is too late, too much time has passed and she had bled out. He feels around for a pulse, but there is none… Merlot is dead.
Bebop’s goes noticeably shifts through several emotions at once before finally sticking to one, rage. Rage at the loss of his fiancée, and there could only be one person logically responsible for it in his eyes. He turns his head towards Golb and immediately begins to scream at her. “YOU! You took too long ON PURPOSE! You wanted her to bleed out!”. He begins to charge at her, but is immediately held back by Jamal and Chris
“Calm down! Why would Golb do that? She's not even the one who punched her." Chris retorts, barely able to hold him back. It takes some effort, but the two are able to finally overpower him. Jamal then looks at Bebop. "Not a word more from you, Bebop. I may be accustomed to your constant slew of lies, but baseless accusations of murder are too much even for you.".
“I’m telling you, she f*cking did it! The medical supplies shouldn’t even be that far away! They let her die!” he cries out. Everyone looks at each other, realizing that there may be some validity to his claim. “Why did you take that long Golb..?” Baabaa finally utters, breaking the silence.
“Even you Baabaa? There was just a lot of things and I didn’t know what you all wanted…” replies Golb, slowly stepping back away from everyone else. The situation has made the room very tense. What do you do?
1. Attack Golbolco, they clearly did it!
2. Restrain Golbolco just in case she’s guilty
3. Restrain Golbolco AND Bebop to control the situation.
4. Defend Golbolco, she is clearly innocent.
5. Stay out of it.
You Pick: Send a third person; you don’t trust Bebop or yourself.
“Okay, Bebop you stay with Merlot and we’ll send another person to take care of it”. You look around the room for someone to send before pointing to Golbolco. “Golb, go to the medicine cabinet, see if you can find something for Merlots bleeding”. Golb nods and heads off into the hallway.
“I feel so lightheaded” Merlot suddenly slurs out, still drunk. You get up and walk over to her to examine her wounds. As you approach her, Bebop reacts by standing in your way, still a bit overprotective because you were the one who punched her in the first place.
“Move over Bebop, I have to make sure she’s okay… it’s my fault she’s bleeding. I want to make it right again”.
He hesitantly moves out of your way and you look down at Merlot to see how she’s doing. It’s become evident that she is bleeding profusely…in fact she is bleeding much more than someone should be from a simple punch. You then notice her bottle on the floor besides her, and you pick it up and inspect it. Looking inside the bottle, you can see some undissolved white powder, which appears to be crushed up pills. “What is this in her drink?” you ask, showing everyone the bottle. No one can come up with an answer. Since it’s crushed, it’s currently impossible to identify it.
Just then, Merlot seems to let out one last deep breath as her eyes close. Bebop notices this and begins a desperate attempt to resuscitate her. At this moment, Golb finally comes in with a medical kit full of several supplies ranging from gauze to antibiotics. “I’ve taken everything I could. I’ve also noticed something interesting. There was an entire empty bottle of blood thinners in the garbage.” Jimbei looks over to you “Yes, blood thinners. Combine it with alcohol and the person should bleed out very quickly.” It seems like this might have been the mysterious drug found in her drink.
While you’re trying to think of where the hammer could be hidden, Bebop stands up and takes his partner by the arm. “Hey, I would love to stay and chat, but Merlot is still bleeding, so I’m gonna see if I can find where the medical stuff is. Any problems with that?”
“I am not surprised that you would rather be with your girlfriend than assist in solving this case, Bebop.”
He stops in his tracks. “I– f*ck it. F*ck it. I’m not in the mood. Just shut the f*ck up, Jamal. She’s not okay. This kid punched her in the face, what, an hour ago?”
“She will not die of blood loss if immediate action is not taken. You both are to stay, though I doubt either of you will help.”
Now everyone is staring at the two of them, even Reamix, though her head is still mostly tucked underneath her arms. You take a step towards Bebop and look over at Jamal. “Do we really need everyone here? I mean… if it’s been an hour and Merlot is still… y’know, that could actually be serious.”
“Nonsense. Bebop is simply being melodramatic as–”
Jamal is interrupted by the sound of Merlot yelling in surprise as she falls over. Bebop has a point; she really doesn’t look okay.
“– usual. And I see Merlot is playing along.”
This is all a little too much for you to handle. You want to keep going forward with the case, but people won’t stop fighting, and Merlot might actually be in danger. Does Bebop even know where the medical cabin is? Probably not. You’re the one who took Lucid’s map. You could give it to him… or you could lock the door shut until you’ve searched the whole room and everyone’s been thoroughly questioned. What do you do?
1. Give Bebop the map and let him go.
2. Offer to go yourself while everyone investigates.
3. Send a third person; you don’t trust Bebop or yourself.
4. Stay out of it! Keep searching the room.
5. Don’t let anyone leave until you’re done.
You Pick: Cut Platy down and search for clues.
“Okay,” you announce, shakily rising to your feet, “I-I’m gonna see if we can… find any clues on the body. Can someone help me get him down?”
Chris raises his tiny dinosaur hand. Then, without waiting for a response, he uses his teeth to tear the rope in half. The platypus falls to the ground with a dull thud. “I got it.”
“That… works.” Grimacing, you approach your deceased fellow passenger. You can’t help but feel responsible for his death; after all, you were the one who threw to get him lynched, and now… well, whoever this killer is, they’ve certainly got it in for you. You almost wish they had just killed you first instead of tormenting you like this. It’s hard to shake those thoughts as you turn him over, combing through his brown fur to search for injuries.
Some of the others crowd around you. “Can you see anything?” Jimbei asks anxiously. “Did the killer leave a note?”
You shake your head, then look back down – you feel blood. “No, there’s no note, but… there’s these.” You pull back some of the fur on his side to reveal two circular wounds, exactly like the one you found on Lucid. “I found a bruise this shape and size when I searched the captain, so maybe the killer’s been using a hammer. H-has anyone seen a hammer around here?”
“Not me,” says everyone in a variety of ways.
“Huh.”
Platypops becomes noticeably annoyed at you and he starts to grumble about you gamethrowing as the lights continue to flicker. Amelio finishes counting the votes and looks at Platypops. “Platy is lynched by the town. His role was c-” Amelio is interrupted by the sound of sparks before the lights cut off. A piercing shriek cuts through the darkness as everyone fumbles around aimlessly in the dark. Soon you hear the gasps of someone struggling to breathe followed by two loud bangs. Something hits you, pushing you down onto the floor. The lights turn back on, and to your horror, Platypops is suspended in the air by a rope. The rope moves up to the fixture above, and then back down to the floor where it’s nailed down to the floor. Everyone in the room is frozen in place, looking at Platy’s lifeless corpse dangling from the ceiling. You take the chance to note where everyone is standing. Chris, Amelio, Golbolco, and Jamal all seem to be standing exactly where they were before the lights went off. They’re the closest to the body. Away from the table is Merlot, who is also on the floor and seems to be bleeding even more than before. Jimbei, Baabaa, and Bebop all seem to have tried walking to exit as they’re standing near the door. Finally Reamix is curled up in the corner of the room, clearly terrified of the situation. What now...?
1. Cut platy down, search for clues on his body.
2. Everyone is in the room, look for the hammer that nailed down the rope!
3. Check to see how the electricity was tampered with.
4. Let someone else take charge.
You Pick: Stay and play the game, game throw
You decide to stay and play the game. Being the mischievous person that you are, you think it’d be hilarious to gamethrow since no one can ban you for a real life version of Mafia. You reach your hand into the pouch and pull out your card. It reads “Villager”. Perfect, now all you have to do is hope you don’t die at night. “Okay everyone close your eyes”. He then lets every role do their night action. Cop, Mafia, and finally Doctor. “Now everyone open your eyes. Okay so Golb was walking home alone at night after closing up their Golburger restaurant when suddenly they were killed in a drive-by. The mafia didn’t like that they refused to pay protection money” Amelio narrates. Just then, Platypops points to you and claims “I’m cop, they’re innocent”. It’s your chance now, everything has worked out perfectly. You counterclaim before the mafia can “I cc, I am the real cop and I got you as guilty!”. He panics and looks at Amelio, thinking he might have seen the report incorrectly. “No I’m not… I am the real cop. Retract please, don't mess around if this is a reaction test”. It has no effect as you continue to push your claim. “Don’t listen to him, I am the real cop, doc be on me tonight”. With your claim being the stronger one, everyone immediately votes him and he is chosen to be lynched.
Finally, you hear the boat’s horn, a sign you should head back to the deck to play in some “icebreaking activities”. As you walk out onto the ship, however, there is a storm brewing. “Hey girls, I drive. But not boats. So we should probably go inside to keep safe in this weather,” SirAmelio jokes. Everyone gathered up into the indoor lounge cabin and sat in a circle at Amelio’s request. To your left is Platypops, to your right is Christopherzilla.
“Today we are playing mafia!” SirAmelio cheers. There’s a collective groan as a response, but no one stops him. “Everyone reach your hand into this pouch, and it will tell you your role. Since there’s 10 of us, there will be 6 town, 3 mafia, and 1 third.” He passes around the pouch. You get a simple villager card. Well damn.
The lights flicker. “Oh god,” grumbles Platy, “This is probably an electrical issue. I’d deal with it, but flippers aren’t very useful with electronics.” You go around the circle denying who goes down to check it out.
“I’m Jamal, I don’t do work.”
“Well, Merlot’s drunk she can’t go.”
“I have a big head and little arms.”
“I have hooves.”
Finally, it comes down to you, Reamix, Bebop, Golbolco, and Jimbei.
What do you want to do?
1. Stay and play the game peacefully
2. Stay and play the game, game throw
3. Stay and play the game, cheat
4. Go down to check electrical work alone
5. Go down to check electrical work with Reamix
6. Go down to check electrical work with Bebop
7. Go down to check electrical work with Golbolco
8. Go down to check electrical work with Jimbei
You Pick: Keep investigating the tracks alone.
You follow the webbed feet to see where they lead. Maybe they’ll lead to more evidence! You follow the trail out of the room, into the hallway, out to the deck until it stops suddenly, surrounded by white scat. You look up and see a duck sitting on the roof of the boat, its webbed feet stained a brownish red from the blood.
At a dead end, you head back to the crime scene and see a mark on lucid’s dead body that you hadn’t seen before: a circular bruise on his right hip where the shirt was pulled up a bit. Curious… it looks like the killer used some sort of mallet or hammer to try and injure him before killing him. But there is no weapon in sight other than the knife.
There’s prints in the blood. You’ve never noticed those before. They look like they belong to someone with webbed feet… and the knife’s missing, too. Platypops must have been in this room before you came! What on earth could he have been doing here? More importantly, what should you do about it?
1. Confront him in private.
2. Confront him in front of everyone.
3. Tell him what you found without pointing fingers.
4. Tell everyone what you found without pointing fingers.
5. Keep investigating the tracks alone.
6. Leave and keep quiet until there's more proof.
You Pick: Go back to the crime scene and search for clues.
Yeah, you feel bad about Merlot, but the case should probably take higher priority. After all, the killer could strike again at any moment. You wave awkwardly at her and give her a sheepish smile, just to let her know there’s no hard feelings, then turn around and walk as unsuspiciously as possible back to where you found the body. Bebop’s glare still burns into the back of your head as you leave.
You open the room’s door nervously, and sure enough – there he is, your late host Lucid, just where you and the others left him. God, you hope nobody walks in on this. You crouch down and examine his body more closely, being careful not to touch him.
Everyone’s just staring at you now. Bebop is glaring furiously as he tends to his girlfriend’s bloody nose. The tension is tangible in the air, even after Jamal, still determined to take charge, breaks the silence. “Now that you all–”
“I have an idea,” interrupts Amelio.
“Do not speak without my permission, SirAmelio.”
“Yes, Jamal.” He shakes his head, seemingly used to the self-proclaimed deity’s antics by now. “What if we all played a game in a bit? Just to calm down a little?”
Baabaa smiles. “Oh, boy! Sounds like fun!”
“Does anyone have any objections?”
“That is an awful idea. We simply cannot allow ourselves to partake in something as frivolous as a game while there–”
“I’ll have to respectfully disagree. We’ve got a long time to solve this mystery. This’ll help keep us sane.” Amelio takes a deep breath. “Okay, any other objections?”
There’s a smattering of “no”s and head shakes. People are starting to walk off. “I’ll be in my cabin,” Golbolco calls over her shoulder. You’re glad things are calming down, but you feel a little guilty for just punching Merlot in the face like that. She’s still bleeding.
What do you do?
1. Apologize to Merlot and see if you can help her.
2. Get yourself cleaned up first.
3. Hide in your cabin until Amelio calls everyone again.
4. Go back to the crime scene and search for clues.
You Pick: For a real diversion, punch the nearest person in the nose.
Finally, the mob’s grip on you has weakened enough for you to break free. You fall awkwardly onto the deck, then get to your feet as quickly as possible, and without thinking, you swing your fist in a random direction.
The next thing you feel is the cartilage of Merlot’s alcohol-reddened nose against your knuckles. She yells out in pain and surprise, staggering backwards into Platypops, who nearly topples over. Just when you realize what you’ve done, Bebop lunges at you. He lands a hard blow to your gut and another to the side of your face before Jimbei yanks him away. “You *sshole, stay away from her!” he spits.
“Hey, let’s not.” She grabs his shoulders and takes him off to the side. “Little help here?”
That first punch knocked the breath out of you, but by now you’ve got it back. You’re about to retaliate when Chris grabs you by the wrist. “Look. As much as I’d like to punch Bebop, this is getting out of hand.”
Now they’re starting to slow down, at least. About five different people open their mouths to answer, but Jamal speaks up first. “I decide what is wise, baabaa. You do not. This sad person is clearly responsible for the murder of Lucid, and we are punishing them accordingly.”
“Clearly?”
“Yes, they–”
“We walked in on them standing over his body,” explains Golbolco.
Baabaa stares at you long and hard. You don’t know why she’s helping you after you tried to turn the group’s collective anger on her, but you’re grateful nonetheless. “So there’s… no serious proof?”
Bebop lets go of your leg just to cross his arms in contempt, and a couple others follow, a little hesitant now to keep going. He really doesn’t look convinced. Perhaps he just doesn’t care. “Proof? What is this, Main Lobby?”
“I mean, I’m just saying…”
“Hi, just saying. I’m dad.”
“Gosh, nobody asked you, Amelio–”
“Silence!” Jamal raises his voice and his hand simultaneously in an attempt to quell the chaos before it starts, but this only seems to encourage it. Before you know it, everyone is talking over each other. At least they’re not trying to drown you anymore..
What do you do?
1. Run while they’re distracted!
2. Get your wits together so you can make a coherent case.
3. For a real diversion, punch the nearest person in the nose.
4. Stay still and do nothing.
5. Help Jamal calm everyone down.
