OGI needs better defined. As a geek that loves to learn about the brain, I can tell you that everything we see for the first time is processed in the context of what we have seen before. In the same way that a one year old calls a bunny a cat, the furry animal that they know, our brain processes all new EM games in the context of old EM games. Hence, there is no way to prevent people from using out of game experiences within a game.
So when a noob joins my game, I know from prior experience with noobs that they might not do things like claim cop when they normally would, and I adapt my game play to this like everyone does. All of us use our experience in old games to understand how everyone is acting in new games. There is no way to avoid doing this completely, as its biologically impossible.
Considering this, I think that there are major issues in what is considered OGI. I saw a report that I spoke out against, where an individual got OGI for saying once at the start of day1 something like Sarah (who instantly voted them then) always grudge lynches me. I personally do not think that this should be OGI. To make reads on people, we all use this same thought strategy, and we use this to affect our play. I know for example that Vekna often tunnels me when we are both town and pushes on me when he is scum. To differentiate between these I often will say something like vekna we always tunnel each other when we are town. If he is town he reconsiders his reads and if he is mafia he does not. However, stating this would be OGI based on this report I saw earlier.
We all base our reads in a game on our experience in other games, so we all by definition our guilty of OGI in every game. OGI needs to be re-defined to be more lenient, as scum hunting is not OGI. In this way, I do not think saying X always votes me should not be OGI, as this is just used to help get reads. If he was just arguing this with all votes on him, that is maybe a different story.
The current OGI rules need to be better defined so we know what is really OGI vs part of normal game play. Examples:
Noob claims cop late after I make them out, and I say well they are a noob and they probably do not know to claim cop (this is based on experience in old games obviously).
X always pushes on me when they are mafia
This is clearly Mtlveās town game, as they are more obvious as mafia (clearly this info is all based on old games).
General meta: My mentee would not do this as mafia, I would not n1 my friend, etc
Carry me this game, as I am running
I spilled grape juice brb (this has nothing to do with the game, but people always say random* like this and it influences reads)
Personally, I think it should be limited to things only right at votes and be fairly serious. Unvote me or I will report you for grudge lynching is way different than one saying X always grudge lynches me at the day start, but under the current rules these were both given an OGI violation.
