To be fair I don't think anyone has ever seriously told me to 'go back to the kitchen'. Maybe you hang out with the wrong people.
Plus, I know quite a few awesome male cooks, the assumption that men aren't able of cooking is also a sexist assumption and it in fact just enforces the idea that women should be in the kitchen instead of men, which is an absolutely b*llsh*t idea.
