There shouldn't be set-in-stone precedent for this issue. It's more of a "reevaluate everyone's in-game decisions and interactions every time this happens" kind of deal.

Just because the mafia put themselves in an absolutely horrid position due to their wretched play doesn't mean they can just hit who they know will be saved at meteor. It's as if this mafia believes that by sucking so bad they deserve a free pass to dodge a loss.
