Using spam to lock topics

deletedalmost 9 years

I often see in sandbox(and a bit in main even though I'm hardly there, but I'm sure it happens just as much), topics being locked because they go too off topic, and people are spamming. Why is this? If people are spamming in a topic, they should be held accountable, but instead the punishment is the topic being locked, even if OP had nothing to do with the situation.

So a simple question, are the mods using other peoples' spam as an excuse to lock unfavorable topics?

I feel that this is one of the most obvious tricks on the website, so now I ask: Why do the spammers get the win by getting a topic locked, instead of receiving a spamming violation, or have their posts deleted for being completely off topic?

I say when a new mod position opens up specifically seek someone who will correctly moderate the forums and just leave them in charge. Someone who's got the balls.

This is what happens when you don't have experienced MODERATORS who have the balls to moderate the forums****

Fixed it for you, sis.

As a former site moderator, I can indeed confirm that we had at least 5 different users, at any given time, that we used to derail any and all threads that we didn't necessarily care for.
