If you're confident with your read, as a clear, throw it out there and allow it to be scrutinised. Lead the lynch. You still get the final call, and the reactions that can be elicited from this are much more beneficial than the timing of everyone self voting.

I have fulfilled your request of reupvoting Shivv's thread as a showing of thanks for your warm and generous upvoting of my guide. I look forward to working with you in future threads and hope that our bond only strengthens from here.
It has been approximately 15 minutes and my guide has not been upvoted, Shivv. I regret to inform you but I must retract my upvote of your thread. Your lackluster response has disheartened me greatly. I bid you a good day.
As a showing of good faith I'll even upvote your thread first. I hope that you see this transaction as profitable and follow through.

I'll upvote your guide if you upvote mine Shivv. Are you interested in this arrangement?

Everyone's way too stringent with the reads they've formed 2 minutes into the game based on nothing but day starts. Leading on people can help you reconsider, or even solidify, your reads. Shying away from it because you're too scared to confront someone with text while you hold all the cards is dumb.
as someone who constantly gets lynched for refusing to selfvote, as it will allow the town to get better reads, i can assure you that the meta will not change.
people nowadays, are too susceptible to AtE, to the point that they will quickhammer so that the person they're hammering on cannot react.
