By that I mean that the rating system as it works right now is kind of dumb. I've played over 2000 games on this website at this point. And because of that people often pick me to be killed the first night over others. That means that I'm joining a lot of games that I'm not even getting a chance to play in.
Now I don't want to come across as too much of a complainer, but this could possibly be a simple change to the game. I've seen someone suggest before that rather than showcasing total percentage of games played it would show the percentage of games won in the last 100 games played.
If you go to the stats page on your profile it should show both pie charts though, of total games played and past 100 games.
So instead of people being able to go click onto my tab on the left side of the game and see that I've played 2,000 games, and then consider to kill me because of it. It now requires players to take another step and go onto the profile page to see how many total games a player has played.
Fear killing adds a bit of a bogus dynamic where new players can get framed for fear killing because a more experienced player would not fear kill. It's a bit ridiculous, I know. And I'm not assuming that this change would completely irradicate fear killing. But it would be beneficial for other reasons as well.
For instance, a player can be bad for his or her first hundred games or so. And they could potentially lose lots of games. So their pie chart will show that. And it will be bad. But if the pie chart only shows the past 100 games played the player will have a chance to make up for that.
Another benefit is to players like me who would like to know how they have been doing in the game lately. It would be a nice addition, to keep a better record on my games that way I think. Even though I do not play this game too competitively or at times not really all that seriously I think it would be a nice thing to look at. Not just for me, but for other players who do play the game competitively as well.
Although I'm sure most comp players don't care about red heart games... And that is fine, but I still no reason this shouldn't be implemented.
Of course it's up to the mods, but I'm sure there is some interest in changing this among some of the more dedicated player base. Even among new players this could be accepted because it means their pie charts can be reset. I think it could be a good change for the game in these ways. If it can't be done then I understand, but if it can be done and enough people would like to see the change then I think it could be a good one.
It also doesn't have to be this idea either. Maybe a better idea would be to simply reset your pie charts that show in game, but still keeping your overall pie chart on your profile page. But then everyone would want to change their pie charts a lot, so maybe you can only do it once per week? I don't know, but I feel like some sort of change could be beneficial for everyone.
Sign if you like the idea, or if you don't and cared to read all of this maybe tell me why it wouldn't work this way? Or maybe a way it could potentially work better.
