6) do not expect the directing to be fantastic. in fact, the action here is probably my least favorite part of the whole film. it's very underwhelming, so manage your expectations there
7) sing along with every song that comes up because there are a LOT of great songs in this movie. it'll definitely add to uour enjoyment
9) bear in mind that this film will probably set up potentially great films for the major characters of this film (Harley, deadshot, joker, and maybe even Diablo). they're all very much likeable so it might pay off!
10) just try to have some actual, child-like fun with this film. there is definitely a lot to enjoy if you try numbing yourself to the (plenty) drawbacks and flaws of this film, in a way this movie is kind of a guilty pleasure for me because I can definitely see so many problems with it but I admittedly had so much fun watching it when I tried shrugging off its issues. don't get into this movie with the angry fanboy mindset, laugh at its humor, munch your popcorn, and try to enjoy it as much as you can :) it's the most non-serious DC film in ages
about to watch suicide squad? not sure if you should, based on the negative reviews? have no fear!
as someone who actually (surprisingly) enjoyed this movie, here are my 10 must-take, spoiler-free tips to enjoying suicide squad:
1) know your movie. suicide squad is by no means a serious movie meant to be taken seriously. it's a light-hearted film with scattered humor, not a film with hidden layers and meanings and definitely a film not meant to move you. so put down ur notepads, critics.
2) manage ur expectations. if you've seen the negative reviews, then you already know not to expect Citizen Kane. unfortunately, this is one of those movies where the reviews are key to enjoying the film. also, don't bother trying to make comparisons with any film, especially not Marvel lol. take this movie for what it is
3) revel in the fact that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the best Harley Quinn put to screen. she is the most layered, like able, sexy, well-acted and the most faithful adaptation of a character in this movie.
4) do NOT expect to see a lot of the joker. he is NOT the main antagonist of the film, and while he was intriguing in the scenes he's in, he is by no means a focus of the film
5) if you're a huge fan of Katana, you're already doomed to hating this movie. she's pointless and stupid and never fit in the plot nor had any reason to exist. ignore her existence.
to be quite honest the deadshot he plays is kind of just will smith but it works & deadshot doesn't need to be reshoot. katana and enchantress? literally no word
harley quinn definitely nailed it. margot robbie embodies the character perfectly. her relationship with the joker is what makes her so insane and crazy, and her backstory really makes the audience believe that. i feel the same way about the joker as i do with wonder woman in BvS. joker felt slightly underused and that disappointed me
i totally did not catch that bohemian rhapsody not being the original btw lol. wasn't it?

it was a movie about superpowers, and didn't try to be anything other than that. i mean they even throw in that dumb climbing dude just to kill him off first, prove that bomb thing, to pretty much tell u straight out this sht ain't trying to be deep. it was fun.
this movie sucked 100% cringe. Harley Quinn: "Nice perfume is that the smell of death?" nice one 10/10. asian chick crying to her sword made no sense. was it suppose to make me us feel some sort of emotion lmk plz
when they showed deadshot's daughter's letter i literally said "oh my god" and started sobbing.
leto's joker was not great but i honestly think the director etc wanted him to be over the top "gangster" because him and harley really had the same attitude and similar character choices, difference is shes super hot and he looked like a weird girl.
will smith was amazing but so was margot im excited for her own film.
i dont base my movie-going decisions on reviews from nerds who were mad it didnt follow the comics or something

The last 1/4 of the movie killed it for me. They tried to hard humanize them with the bar scene and it was just really cringey, the only decent thing that came out of it was flame dudes backstory.
