Ya @Venus I made a tip calc and sent it to my friend who was doing java and couldnt start it because of the different versions

I'm learning it right now but i'm trying to make code that does simple things.

There's some good tutorials online. Just make sure you have the same version as the tutorial is using

You really have to get your hands dirty with the code. Go through tutorials, play around with things, look up project prompts. You will write programs and break existing programs, but that is part of the learning process.
