I realized I've been working on this cruise ship for 3 months now and it's pretty much become normal to me despite being unlike anything I've experienced before.
So I thought it would be interesting to answer any questions anyone had about living and working 7 days a week on a cruise ship around the Carribean.
do you get put on different ships or just one ship. i'll take a cruise on one of the bigger freedom class ships if ur on it
So typically you get assigned one ship for the duration of your contract, I'm currently on Oasis class.
But depending on need within the fleet you can be transfered with no warning, I've seen riggers jump between 3 ships in 2 months and just last week one of our sound guy was sent to Harmony. They just tell you to pack your things and put you on a plane. haha
I personally was offered a 2nd contract on the same ship but if I was going to remain with the company I would request to transfer to a smaller ship on a Asia route I think.
can you get me a discount
I know for a fact I can get a discount for immediate family, but it isn't massive.
Friends, family and significant others can stay for $10 a night if they share a cabin with the employee in question.
Considering the size of my room it would be pretty crappy, but the deck 12 or deck 3 cabins have a pull down bunk bed for when people visit and are a decent size. So if I was head sound and light I'd consider it but you'd have to bunk with me. lol
I opted for an electric guitar instead, it arrives on Sunday hopefully.
How many would you need? And would you be able to do it without security finding out?
I reckon a group of 10 of us would suffice and at like 3am would probably give us the best chance. But I have no inention of sinking the ship after being shown all the previous cruise ship sinkings in the past. lol
They teach you during safety training what not to do that could cause the ship to sink but it would take a group of you not taking into account security trying to stop you. lol
