Joining games should bump them

over 8 years

Tired of repeatedly retrying setups that manage to accumulate 9/11 people before they take the dreaded plunge into the realm of horror known as Page 2, filling all who came along for the ride with doubt and impatience, wearing away at their sanity until they all eventually drop out and join something fresh and thoughtless like 24 Santas 1 Sniper? Yes.

Wouldn't it be nice if games would move up to the top whenever someone joins, showing that people are interested in playing them, rather than falling back, appearing unfillable to the mind of the average player? Yes.

Yes? Yes.

Shouldn't joins bump? Shouldn't they?

I'll admit, I'd probably exploit that until every game filled. BUT YOU CAN'T BLAME ME. I MEAN YOU CAN BUT CAN'T YOU ALSO FEEL MY PAIN. I waited more than half an hour for this ten person game I'm in to fill, and, as usual, more than enough people came and went intermittently through the remakes. If this had been bumped when it reached 6/10 instead of being left sitting at the bottom of page 1, I'll bet it would've filled within two minutes.

It could be limited to one bump every five minutes after the last, or any time someone who hasn't previously joined joins. Maybe both. Just let it happen at all.

I know I'm basically ranting about the same thing over and over but it's every day of my life right now and I'm not the only one bothered when these games don't fill.

this would be a great feature, although i feel like there would need to be some way to keep people from exploiting it by repeatedly leaving and entering their own setup

to elucidate would be too much for most of you I'm sure

Really, why can't it at least be a sorting option alongside game creation date and number of players in-game? At least give a few more reasons instead of brushing this off, AFAICT pros outweigh cons.

I always end up making games that accumulate 8 of 10 or so people after remaking over and over and then fizzle out yet again. It is frustrating. It's a lot of waiting and making small talk only for someone to veg or sui n1. Hours of my life have been spent waiting for games to fill that could've been shaved off if only people saw them and were patient for a few minutes. If they'd been bumped, it would have taken no time for people to see and fill them. They wouldn't be getting in the way of all the Fancy Pantses people would flock to just by sitting above them for a second when they're about to fill.

Date weighting? It's not the week old games. It's the 12 person setups that will never actually fill but will be continually bumped to the top by two jerks.

Lucid will never implement this idea! First come first serve... that's how it is and how it always will be.

And as soon as a game begins, It should be put on the bottom.

I can't think of a single way this cannot be abused. Nope, not one.

Let's just trust in our users to follow the rules :)

...

Perhaps there should be like... date weighting of some sort still so people can't incessantly bump from the pool of weeks-old games where someone will always veg.

Yes please add this.

Barring that; at least sort the games in an ascending way so that filling games are on top, ordered most filled to least filled.

OH! and also! Green dot should be default view. (This filters out games in progress or completed)

That at least would be easy to implement given current codebase and make filling a game much easier.
