i guess my problem with nohr is more of a "why why WHY are you doing this you know its wrong and you dont want to and there are better options so why"
also the kitsune genocide is still a thing. sure, it was self defense, and the wolfskin accident did happen in birthright, the kitsune massacre is one of the darkest events in, well, all of the routes.
actually in nohr you dont get many people killed personally, the big point of the route is to show that nohrians are not necessarily evil and its proven by corrin's group not killing people. sure, the bad characters do their own killing siding with nohr but it also happens siding with hoshido.
im not saying anything about the characters with that one, i'm talking about the decision. the decision to side with nohr isnt a morally grey one, it's a purely negative one. for most of the game you ARE the bad guy, you get a ton of people killed, you massacre an entire race, and practically destroy an entire country. the confrontations with the hoshido royal family are a lot more negative than the ones with the nohr family in birthright. conquest is literally written so that you're the bad guy, and you're supposed to feel terrible for picking the wrong route.
you're right because leo has the most personality out of almost any character in the game and aside of him, and to a lesser extent, takumi and sakura, is the only royal with actual character
the retainers - now, as i havent read /every single support/, if im discrediting a character, please feel free to correct me.
artur's personality is "being unlucky", effie "is strong", niles has quite a bit of personality (1), beruka is a very good character (2), and the other 4 are awakening copies (3 of them literally being characters from that game)
setsuna "just doesnt care", azama is just a nihilist, oboro has story and development in quite a few good supports (1), saizo and kagero have an interesting dynamic, but only with each other (and kaze), so i'll count that as one (2), and hinata's just the cliche best friend. subaki is another awakening copy and hana doesnt have a lot of personality.
2-2, i guess, because most of the retainers are either plain and boring, cliche tropes, or literally awakening characters
>if it's too easy just play lunatic
the story in the grand scheme might be weaker, "corrin's tale" is a hell of a lot stronger. in conquest they literally constantly disagree with garon and are like "nooo we shouldnt do this" and then they go ahead and do it anyway, for no good reason aside of "exposing what really happened to garon" when they solved that in birthright by, shocker and spoiler alert, just killing the man.
hoshido units > nohr units birthrigth story/ corrin >>>>>>>> conquest story/ corrin next to the fact that siding with hoshido is literally the correct choice from a gameplay point of view, and is probably the more sane and morally correct decision.
