Anyone have any experience in their studies at which you think is better in terms of self/pre catered, living near/away from campus etc? Also in terms of numbers of people I guess, I really haven't looked into it so much so wanted to know people's opinions on each

Living on campus is definitely better tbh, I lived in uni accomodation but not on campus which was pretty good since it was a flat with like 26 people so It was still easy to make friends but on campus is probably much better and all my friends who have lived on campus really liked it. Also probably get better internet on campus
The general rule is you can bring stuff as long as it has a non exposed heating coil.
I had an electric kettle that worked great for tea and noodles, and I even found coffee in little teabags real cheap. My room mate also had a fridge, microwave, keurig, and personal coffee grinder so I mooched off him lol

Live on campus for the first year. You won't regret it. I know I'm repeating what others have said but it's important.
dorms won't allow any real kitchenettes or cooking appliances but if you get the right type of coffee maker you can make ramen and other food in the coffee pot

Get roommates that are cleanly above all else
If you live in dorms/apartments for a few semesters try to get a room that's:
1) ground floor since walking up and down stairs or constantly waiting for the elevate sucks
2) near the laundry machines - it's a pain walking really far holding your laundry
3) not close to the stairs or elevators - people will be coming in and out at all goddamn hours of the night and if the doors are heavy or if they're drunk they'll wake you up
Yeah I was already thinking of self catered because I just wanna eat chicken nuggets for 38 weeks, but it's nice to know about the campus stuff, I guess I'm not the type of person who would go out of my way too far to meet others so it seems perfect.
retaking the year because you couldnt be bothered to commute every day so u missed lectures so u failed is also expensive lo l

Living on campus is great but expense, if you wanna commute to save money that's valid. Honestly living on campus is great cuz even if you don't hang out with anyone on your floor, everyone is so close to hang out if you meet people in class it doesn't matter.
I hung out with commuter's, but in general I hung out with people who lived on campus much more.
i lived in halls about 2 miles away from campus this year, you'll find that it's much easier to make friends and have a social life if you're living on campus. i don't really see any perks to living away from campus unless the accommodation is considerably better or it's right in the middle of town and if it isn't you'll probably end up regretting it at some point
