The issue with evolutionary psychology is that people haven't refined a decent model for it yet and don't understand its limitations. First of all for behaviors to develop through evolutionary psychology, they have to be selected for. This means they must provide a competitive advantage. Most of the "evolutionary psychologists" spew doesn't adequately take that into consideration. There are a lot of other corollaries that follow into it. However, just because evolutionary psych can explain the origins of some things nicely, that doesn't make it applicable to every manifestation of the mind.
The other problem is, people are crap at adequately predicting what selection pressures would exist because societies also applied their own unique pressures as they developed.
Not as easy as some people make it out to be.

and that's where evolutionary psychology fails

i don't imagine there was any strict division of labour anyway. i mean what happened since? a major overhaul of the mind as regards stimuli/response to stimuli? no

i dunno but i can explain pretty much every quirk of humanity today by a sort of universal psychology. by intelligence, compensation etc. and it all started with fetishes lmao

i mean i don't mind neuroscience as much, at least a lot of neuroscience gives u something to work with. but evolutionary psychology is just making sht up. women love shopping because foraging hurr durr sort of stuff. or then sometimes it goes absolutely crazy too and is still given credence.
Wasn't the whole division of labor thing mostly disproven too? Like I know they've found the bones of women buried with weapons now suggesting they were hunters, which sort of sh*ts on the theory women strictly foraged and men hunted. It also kinda supports the primitive communism idea of Marx & Engels.
