Okay so some weeb made this thread https://epicmafia.com/topic/76932 a petition to make weeb HC lol. I was reading this idiocy and it got me thinking.
His rational that the word weeb/weeaboo is condescending and hateful towards people who like anime. In that sense he is correct, it is used by many as an insult. Though the rational to make a word HC just because it is widely used as an insult and derogatory term is stupid. Some of you might argue its not used in that way; untrue, weebs are ostracised and shunned in this community and the word is definitely used most commonly with a negative connotation.
The stupidity of trying to make this HC is an extreme example but something we should look into further. Lets return once again to the age old debate over the feared "R-Word". Why is this HC? Well to those who believe in auto HCing this word it is an insult, derogatory and aparently its "abelism".
What is "abelism" you ask? Well basically it refers to discrimination or social prejudice against people with disabilities.
Just like racism refers to discrimination by race. etc etc.
Anyway obviously any forms of prejudice should not be tolerated and should be heavily enforced against. However trying to suggest the use of one word is prejudice, regardless of context is absolutely a joke.
Returning to the weeaboo analogy, under the same logic of these people who want to ban the R-word, "weeb" is discrimination against those who like anime. LOL yes as ridiculous as this sounds its a similar argument. You could almost say its "weebism". Now ofcourse you are going to say okay so many people use weeb not as a form of insult against people who like anime. To that I counter, most people using the R-word do not use it to insult people with mental disabilities.
It always comes down to context, context is key. Deeming certain words as HC automatically is stupid, plain and simple. Its sad that I had to draw from such a stupid analogy to get this point across.

weebs would be offended if they were a minority on this website. Unfortunately they arent a minority, they outnumber others easily, correct me if im wrong. There was once a happy and peaceful time when EpicMafia was at its greatest. This was when the anime lovers, comp players, mods, noavis, and the general public all got along. However, once the noavi population started to rise, chaos instantly broke out. The noavis were "taking power" away from the other factions. Instead of banding together to defeat this "menace", the groups decided to turn against each other for control over who gets to fight the noavis. EpicMafia is now at a stage where it has to realize that everybody had their own opinions and they are free to share them as long as they are not disruptive. The noavis were the first to break this rule, simply by staging a "noavi rebellion". The anime lovers are now fighting back using their "kawaii waves". It leaves me to wonder one thing: the other two factions (not including the public) have not yet started warring. When will they start their attacks? As a member of the general public, all I see is a struggle over us for power. Each side is trying to influence us to join them. Perhaps this is a way to get things back to normal. But I doubt that would work. Instead, what we have to do is to make sure EpicMafia is peaceful again. The factions must stop their prejudiced attacks on each other. Yes, we have our differences. That should not bring us apart, however. We must recognize our similarities before we recognize our differences. There are good people, funny people, and trolls in every group. Simply the fact that we all are on this website, wanting to have a good time, should be enough for us to realize that we are so alike in so many different ways, there is no reason to continue fighting. EpicMafia was founded on the intentions of bringing people together by playing a game. The day when the warring parties cease their attacks and finally believe they are no better or worse than anyone else is the day when we have EpicMafia back again, as a website we can depend on to bring us happiness and peace.
I believe we are naturally inclined to do certain things and its our choice to actively engage in that activity. Of course we can assert that certain mental deficiencies make you more prone to like certain things, like being a weeb, being a furry, sexual deviancy, playing java mafia, etc..
