the amount of points he has doesn't matter. why are you assuming he knows the rules? because he played 100 games of fancy pants? most people don't know the rules. no one goes into the rules section and carefully reads it to make sure they follow them. they only find out about certain rules when they get reported. and if you want them to actually know what they did wrong, espcially with something like the r word that is pretty common for a lot of people to say, then you explain your verdicts so they understand what they did wrong, instead of just rubber stamping violations
a note is not a violation. an HC violation is a violation. that is the difference.

Honestly if a player asks me why I gave the violation I'm happy to explain but when I get players who are obviously not new (9k points) I don't give a reason.

Notes are for the mod team to take into account and can only be taken by users as a warning. Noting him and then giving him HC 1st (a warning) is the same thing in my opinion.
i don't understand how it's not common sense for mods to explain the reasons they give violations for. how do you expect users to not repeat their behavior when you're not even telling them what they did wrong

I think we should go through a proper appeal. Report me and in the reason section write: [Appeal] (report link here) (reason you think you don't deserve your violation).
I'd let you know the reason why you got your violation without bumming the forums.

you used the r word which is considered a slur. you only used it once and should have been given a note rather than a violation. the mod who handled the report should have explained to you what you did wrong while asking you not to do it again. a singular use of the r word with no prior violations is very far from what a hateful comments violation should be

You can see why you got an HC vio now? It is is community vio, which makes it apply to anything on this website.
