This is a question that's really been bugging me.
Say I invite you to a surf and turf dinner at my place. For those that don't know, a surf and turf is a dish containing both seafood and meat, typically shellfish and steak. (Thanks Google).
The question then, is this. If I served whale meat at this dinner, which would it be classified as?
BASIC TURF ARGUMENT:
-Whale meat is MEAT, no questioning it. This means it can't be classified as fish.
-Whales are mammals, furthering the argument they shouldn't be compared to our classic defintion of seafood.
-Whale meat tastes like really gamey beef (look it up, I did).
BASIC SURF ARGUMENT:
-Whales live in the ocean, therefore they should be classified as seafood.
-Although whales are mammals, they are clearly thought of as being closer to fish than a cow or something.
I won't give my opinion yet. Do your job, EM. Expand the arguments and debate away.
No hedging your bets.
