Why?
There are people whose primary intention upon registering is to cheat together with another user and/or throw games. It is ridiculous that these people cheat across multiple games (not just one) and yet receive a 24h-suspension ONLY. The rules concerning that matter should be changed because you are responsible that such people just cheat through another 5-10 games the next day. In 1/3 (!) non-competetive games I stumble upon a couple or triple of cheaters and I honestly am not eager to lose or dislike every 3rd game I play on this great site.
Also, without trying to be offensive Cody: I know you are new to your mod's job and you are doing it pretty well, but you always deal with your own filed reports first, whereas there certainly is more important stuff to look at, such as cheaters for example. Idk how many times the player "Meants" was reported for his 15+ games cheat-streak and this disgrace to the EM community is STILL not banned, as far as I am concerned.
At least Cody is an active part of the gaming community itself and also processes many reports that are filed. So good job on that, dude :)
How to detect a group of people cheating?
Well, this is not as easy as it seems but there are a few aspects that point out that multiple people are cheating. See this as a scumhunting irl.^^
- Cheating users mostly registered directly after another
- They play multiple games together in a row or between bigger intervals without a "normal" game in between
- There is always one town taking all the wins, whereas the others throw if they flip maf or vice-versa
- They mostly don't have an avatar and also have quite similar names (camel case names for example)
- There are also people that actually are the same person. To detect this kind of scum, look for similar typographical aspects such as interpunctation, vocabulary, etc
- They know each other roles, so watch out for point- and reasonless tunneling actions or quick hammers (either ISPing before or talking )
That's all for now, if I find anything important that I forgot, I will edit this post with a timestamp. Feel free to comment! :)
