next month is the beginning of the first season
i watched all the meet the queens out of boredom and this is my ranking of them:
Bob the Drag Queen
Thorgy Thor
Dax Exclamationpoint
Naomi Smalls
Kim Chi
Acid Betty
Laila McQueen
Derrick Barry
Naysha Lopez
Cynthia Lee Fontaine
Chi Chi Devayne
Robbie Turner
this season looks like it's going to be very hit or miss wrt personalities. half of the queens really stand out, the other half are personality vacuums. also somewhat disappointed that we still haven't gotten a good puerto rican queen since yara sofia, but at least we're likely going to see a black queen take the crown this year
okay no offense but thorgy was offense to me in the all stars season. she was whiny and should've gotten over everything they were "doing to her"
i agree that drag race is unfair, but everytime she would get on screen her shrill voice would hurt me. like, stop complaining. it's your job to make things dramatic and fun.
i hate bebe, she was irrelevant and shouldn't have gotten into the top 3.
i literally was willing to accept kameron beating asia because like let's be honest. we all saw that lip sync. i love asia but we saw what happened. but literally refusing to eliminate eureka two times in a row when she's the bed as a performer all season is just. naw. done. have fun with your bad finale.
i spent literally the past two weeks internalizing and accepting that there was really no way that asia could possibly win when her three white counterparts are like perfectly appealing to at least one subgroup of racist gay men. but this. this is like. aight. i'm not even finishing the finale lol
i feel like this concept would've been a really cool challenge if the queens who were more vulnerable and willing to tap into their insecurities (blair, monique, monet) than a lot of these queens. i was genuinely gagged when eureka's evil twin said "you came from nothing and you're going to be nothing" because that's a really dark thing to hold onto and internalize (note for historians: this is not eureka apologism). asia did a good job of it too, even if her voice over for the evil twin was corny. everyone else was a little disappointing in how shallow their insecurities were.
