I'm some 10 hours into the game.
Started wanderer, first few hours were just me getting the hang of the game. Was rough ( especially when I was using keyboard and mouse)
Now, I've finally rang both the bells, I got the Crimson Set for armor and Uchigatana at 6+ for weapon.
I two-hand it 90% of the time, but those poisonous bugs had me needing shield for first time in a while.
Whats your recommendation for getting better armor, given that I still want to be able to fast roll, seeing as how thats the only thing keeping me alive.

beat false king on my second try. warding made his damage output embarrassingly low. i lost two soul levels in the process, though, which is annoying but i'll survive. that's game.

almost done with the game

- beat penetrator, who is probably the easiest fight in the entire game. even without biorr playing interference, penetrator himself only has one dangerous attack and it doesn't one hit kill if you've invested any amount of points into vitality. with biorr, i've beaten him in under 20 seconds twice. maybe it's just because i always save him for one of my last boss fights, but he's never been a remotely threatening boss to me, even compared to something like the dirty colossus.

- i said it last night but i beat black phantom garl vinland and gave selen vinland the crest. i'm gonna experiment and try to get pbwt on valley of defilement and see if she'll reappear as a black phantom. would be nice if she did. if she doesn't, i'll still be able to grab the colorless soul from that area.

- did a metric ton of grinding and farming for shards and such. right now my list for platinum looks like this http://pastebin.com/6mPRJZ26 not including the "get the best of x weapon type" stuff, which i'm already about halfway done with.

- the blue dragon was a really surprising kill since i expected it to take far longer, but it only took one attempt once i knew when to run past his second form flame. i don't even know how i got past the thing the first time, since i thought you could just brute force through the fire. either way, i'm very happy. biorr survived too, like a friend.

- all that's left is false king, doran, mephistopheles, and any errant grinding i want to do before ng+. i'm debating grinding up for a sixth magic slot (currently at 35 intelligence) and maybe some more strength, but we'll see.

Would playing DS1 feel outdated to someone who never played a souls game

ds1 is amazing still, and there are good mods for it that up the gfx considerably, to the point where it looks glorious in 1080p 60fps. just finished a run this past month and it has definitely aged well.

Sweet, check this invasion out: https://youtu.be/nGww8wfyE

It highlights how crazy stuff can get with covenants. Btw there are minor area spoilers in the vid.

having used pyromancy almost exclusively in my first proper run of DS1, i can say that it's definitely overpowered. when i played through with only weapons with a friend, it was just infinitely harder. pyromancy makes the game a joke if you ascend the flame - i literally died more than once only to 3 or 4 of the bosses, and they were mainly the DLC ones.
deletedalmost 10 years
i still think pyromancy owned bones in dark souls but OK

anyway i just did a grind run of storm king's arena and it's 18289 souls with ring of avarice, so i'm just gonna do that while multitasking some stuff today

magic in DeS was OP, then severely nerfed in dks1 and then brought back to manageable in dks2.

they're nerfing it again.

The magic in ds2 left me with a really bad taste. Apparently it sucks in 3 as well

Tower knight was really cool but the armored spider left a bad taste in my mouth.

are you doing a physical build if so that's probably why

my experience with demon's souls: spend 2-3 hours playing as a physical build, get to tower knight/armored spider, get really frustrated, restart as a magic build, play the game at mach five and destroy basically everything, have fun.
