dolphins use their rostrum to hit sharks in the gills which is painful i guess and thats how they defend themselves, unless they're a killer whale and then they will force a shark on its back, which puts them in a coma-like state and then just rips them to shreds
they can, if they find one they can successfully eat, but normally dolphins travel in pods so they have the numbers and sharks arent dumb and won't go in for a kill.
but if a dolphin is lost and alone, yes

They might eat them, somewhere in the ocean. Generally they tend to target much smaller fish.... and humans.
