As a moderation team we were, mostly jokingly, thinking of new comp ideas. Who knows if any will come to be, but hey, doesn't hurt to brainstorm! Anyone have ideas to change up comp or fun round ideas?
An idea I had: Every 5 rounds there is a round divided up based on points. Of course with alts there is fine tuning needed to the idea but the thought was 3 levels. Beginners/Experienced/Veterans
1500 - 15000 points
15001 - 30000 points
30001+ points
Another fun one: Pointfarm Comp! (SITD, Take Me To Church, Gallis Hunter)
What are some of your ideas?!

I have a crazy idea. Let's have A competition where everyone throws for Orly. Also if he is about to veg during his ISP... someone must suicide before him to save his heart! <3
1. use Points as an Entry Fee + Payout for Comp <=> 2. sticky 3 Setups from Comp end for double Points in Ranked as a way to quickly rebuild Entry Fee for next Comp
it's a circular system to address and improve both Comp / Ranked; i think i handled most of the obvious questions / details / flaws in the longer posts
1. no Setup left behind, no one feels bad about their Setup not getting played 2. people are encouraged to innovate new Setups while actually thinking of legitimate Strats 3. "RGP farm Setups" will get significantly less plays in Ranked
Cons
1. the quality of Setup mostly depends on the quality of character of trophy winner 2. there will be an influx of troll Setup creations along with troll Strats in order to bypass restrictions 3. each week or so of Ranked will pretty much be a re hash of previous round's Competition in terms of Setups being played
everything in my Suggestions and Pros / Cons list assumes both Suggestions are implemented together. i don't see one system improving the change up if implemented by itself. thanks for your time if you've stuck through reading all the way to the end, and feel free to rip my Suggestions apart.
i actually think deleting the 3 Least Played Setups would improve the Find Setup page and challenge players to innovate new Setups for each Competition, but it's honestly my weakest idea because the risk of deleting a time honored favorite is too great. disrespecting the actual Role Win / Loss Stats, Strats and Setups ideas of players is probably pushing it too far.
therefore i amend my 2A Deletion Suggestion with Gerry's Suggestion:
limit Top 3 winners to only selecting 1 Setup each (preferably with an addendum that the Setup must have a Strat which is at least as days old as previous Competition and the Setup has not been in the previous 3 Competitions.) these 3 Setups are automatically Stickied for double RGP in RH after current Competition ends, and the cycle repeats itself anew with the new Setups chosen after the next Competition ends.
Suggestion #2 - Improve Competition through Improving Ranked by rewarding quality Setups:
the Top 3 Most Played Setups at the end of a Competition are automatically Red Heart Stickied as a proving grounds test for players to earn their 1,500 for next Competition. some have already had experience in those Setups throughout Competition but fell short of re-earning the entry fee through TPP, so they get to play in them once more against a less competitive crowd for double the Ranked Game Payout and don't have to waste time playing non-quality RGP "farms" which aren't nearly as fun or rewarding.
they can get back in the next Competition ASAP on any account with familiar double RGP Setups, as long as they show improvement and actually win consistently this time around. there is essentially a 2-3 Day timeframe window of 20-30 Red Hearts to earn the 1,500 on any and / or multiple accounts before the player is actually in risk of vegging Gold Hearts in the next Competition; so there is plenty of room to earn the entry fee and only mistake prone, super unlucky or people with not enough time on their hands won't make it.
serious Competition players will most likely be playing their RH after their GH are depleted for the day DURING Competition anyway, to always have a reasonable cushion.
2. along with Fame Leaderboards fluidity: 2a. you are competing individually on the Hall of Fame page again under Highest Total Score and only consistent & active players will earn Fame. 2b. your Family is competing for Highest Ruling Family again, and only consistent & active Families will earn Fame.
the most obvious Cons i can think of
1. coding this in such a way that if accounts deplete their reserve Points, their previous social privileges such as Karma giving, upvoting or etc. are NOT taken away. there needs to be a separate milestone system in place for the social rewards.
2. some? a majority? a minority? of people will not want to take such a huge change or reset for personal reasons 2a. they do not play Competition / the implementation is too much effort for them, therefore they are apathetic to the matter. 2b. they want to hold onto their yellow Points pixels even though they are materially useless, there is a certain level of pride that goes along with having earned them over such a long tenure.
Suggestion #1 - Improve Competition through Improving Ranked by adding an additional Payout for participating in Competition:
entering Competition subtracts 1,500 from a player's account to add it to Total Competition Payout. additionally, Top 28 keeps the Total Games Payout they won in Competition.
example: 1st place won 2,000 through TGP so she earns
[Gold Trophy + 2,000 TGP + (Static Percentage X TCP)] = 1st Place Total Player Payout
if the suggestion is taken seriously, i will actually do the math necessary to figure out numbers so SP is accurate in a Tiered distribution of TCP over the Top 28's TPP; but take these numbers as theoretical estimates for now. 1st place is guaranteed 24% of TCP, 2nd place is guaranteed 12% of TCP, 3rd place is guaranteed 10% of TCP, so on and so on.
i realize implementing this suggestion will mean resetting everyone's Points on their accounts, and i suggest a base reset of 1,500 x 4-5 (weeks in a month) for anyone who has exceeded a minimum of 1,500 previously: 6,000 minimum, 7,500 maximum will be the final base Points for those accounts. new(er) accounts will obviously have to earn Points ASAP through the normal method if they wish to play in Competition and still have a reserve cushion for future Competitions.
i won't lie, i wrote my suggestions in a troll manner because i don't expect them to be implemented anyway. if you really think it's a nice idea, i'll explain why you have to implement the other ideas as well though; they're all linked except for the obvious troll last 3 ideas.
Breakdown of Change Up:
what Jeff is saying in OP is that we should establish a Tier system so the quality of Competition is better, as well as bringing up the issue of quality of Setup.
while the nature of the Tier idea is good to get rid of potential cheaters and mistake ridden new players, the method of his application for a Tier system is inherently flawed in that players only have to prove themselves on a SINGLE MILESTONE once in their careers PER ACCOUNT to be eligible for competition. there is no application for making sure players are CONSISTENTLY proving themselves to earn the right to Competition. it is pretty much a tenured "old guard" system as opposed to a testing for "quality control" system.
this is where we improve Red Hearts which leads to improving Gold Hearts; you have to go to the Red Heart stomping grounds every week to be able to play Gold Hearts every week. they will become inherently linked with each other through a trickle down and trickle up effect which will affect both quality of players & quality of Setups.
1500 points are subtracted from account for every round joined 500 points are added to people who finish in the trophy places
sexually
3 most played setups from round are stickied for double points in ranked after round ends and cannot be cumped again for 3 more rounds 3 least played setups from round are deleted, along with their strats and stats
1st place gets trophy 2nd-28th gets poopstains
1st place chooses 3 setups 2nd-28th choose 28 pastebins
1st hacked mod glitches round out of spite 2nd-28th hacked mods search for answers
Actually.. making a round just for players at 10,000 and above would be legit. I also like the 30,000 plus idea..But I think 10,000 points would be enough to make it worthy.
how about the trophy winners only choose 1 setup to comp each (3 total). cause tbh 3 of them usually get unplayed anyway. And how about a setup can only be comped once every 4 rounds? Since people love to complain about Jan (EVEN thO ITS GR8)
Good (?) because everyone plays on the same setup; one can argue it is an even playing ground (although normally any of the six comped setups are fair game)
Bad because alignment rolling could end up determining who wins a trophy and who doesn't. Normally, you can usually get around that if you're a little behind in points by playing a setup with a better payout
