Alright new mods,
My name is thebrontosaurus, and I know a thing or two about this rodeo called "epicmafia moderation".
As a new mod, you're going to get a lot of skype requests from people you don't know who will ask for a lot of favors and complain about stupid stuff. You're going to be inundated with BS, but you will also be able to get with any e-dude or e-babe your heart desires. This is pretty cool.
So how do you improve as a mod? How do you become a top tier mod? Well, I've got some sick and crunchy tips for you.
A list of tips, in no order
- Listen to classical music or jazz when doing reports, it'll subconsciously soothe you and you'll become more cultured (e-babes dig culture)
- Don't leak, it pisses everyone off
- When you come across a report you're unsure about, take it into IP and talk to the other mods in mod chat and work it through together. Not only will you learn more about modding and expand horizons, but you'll also be able to forge stronger bonds with fellow mods. Nice!
- Don't get mad when people make complaint threads. People troll mods for sport. Keep your cool and don't let them get to you. There's a point at which you can do all you've can, and shouldn't get too worked up over it.
- If you can't keep up with reports, step down. The e-power isn't worth it. If you did well, almost anyone will take you back when you have more time.
- Don't trust people who become your friend and ask a lot about your mod life. They just want to cause problems and want to make the current admin look bad when stuff gets out. Only talk to mod people about mod stuff, or someone trustworthy who you knew before you "made it big on epicmafia". If you are unsure if someone is trustworthy, ask me. I am a trustworthy dude.
- If a report is borderline and you're unsure, always check for history and how long they've been around for.
- Don't open sketchy PMs (unless they're from confirmed cute ebabes)
- Talking to banned users is a dumb idea, don't do it.
- Don't go against the admin's decision, and don't get salty if your report gets OT'd. It's a report. It's not the end of the world
Remember, you are moderating in a community with "The best mafia players in the world". This is a rare and exciting opportunity. Please be safe and don't make rookie mistakes.
