Happy International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia!
This day is celebrated in commemoration of the date the World Health Organization declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder (May 17, 1990, so not that long ago sadly!).
But we should celebrate it everyday! Because at least 78 countries still have anti-gay laws, including my own! The penalty for homosexual relationships where I live is at least 30 years in jail, or a life sentence. Laws such as these are why it's important to never stop campaigning, never stop raising awareness, and never stop fighting for the acceptance of all sexual orientations!

I'm not sure why loving the same gender is anyone else's business. It warrants the same privacy as straight people have. Male and female couples aren't pressured about their relationship every second, so why do same sex couples? It doesn't matter what your gender is, someone you love is someone you love.
Also I don't see why it's illegal either. Because both people have the same anotomical parts, it's immoral behavior to publicly pronounce yourselves as dating? It frustrates me hdsjjfkd

proud of you too, giga
of everyone who chooses to take pride in who they are, honestly
I'm going to take this time to announce publicly that I am bisexual. I have known I am bi for the past 2-3 years and I am still a coward in that I have not told my parents or anybody I know except you guys. You all mean a lot to me and this thread made my heart melt. I love you all and I hope that gay marriage can finally become globally legal.
I've never understood why young people need to express sexuality, either straight or otherwise. Youth is for obtaining an education, not for having sexual relations. I also strongly oppose giving support to 'trans' youth since they are still going through puberty and may be going through a phase of gender confusion. It's not terribly difficult to keep one's desire to swap genders to oneself until reaching adulthood.
No matter how much you attempt to promote this cause, there will always be people who are wholeheartedly against it. Sorry to burst your bubble, but no amount of campaigning, catchy slogans, and support can rid the world of the plague of ignorance. Homophobia is taught, it isn't a natural byproduct of evolutionary history of the human race. Homophobia is just an outdated idea that is continuously perpetuated by religion. In my opinion, homophobia will always persist as long as religion is a dominant force in culture. The only way to bring about true sexual equality would be to target religion directly... which is not something that would not yield much success in modern times.
As someone who lives in an incredibly religious area, peoples minds can be changed. I think that instead of targetting religion, we should be (kindly) challenging the religious people who are against homosexuality/being transgendered.
Up until I was about eleven, I was absolutely against homosexuality for religious reasons and then when someone challenged my stance on it, it led me to realize that there was nothing wrong with it at all. I know a lot of other people who changed their minds about it, too. It's kind of like how slavery was commonly supported by religious people but is now absolutely abolished. Regardless of what the scripture says, religion is forced to adapt.
This is a nice day and I hope that it has a positive impact on people.

Nice tumblr post, unfortunately you're in the wrong lobby.
I linked all the other lobbies, so everyone who's interested should be able to see this.

If we didn't bother promoting this cause and did nothing, homosexuality would still be considered a mental illness. Baby steps.
While I appreciate referring to memes to counter my arguments, your memes are not necessary. I doubt anyone here is actually against homosexuality, honestly. EM is a relatively liberal place, as is much of the internet, and the people who seem to disagree with my points are Dibbun and the memers.
Assuming Dibbun isn't trolling/baiting (which is probably a silly assumption to make) - It might be a bit shocking to you, but sexuality isn't all about sex. You don't date a girl and bang her the moment she agrees to go out with you. A big part of growing up is socializing with peers your own age, and that includes dating. Believe it or not, homosexuals are humans as well, thus they socialize like everyone else. If your sexuality drives you to be attracted to the same gender, you would more than likely date people of the same gender. You can argue how it is unnecessary, but dating is such a widely accepted/practiced idea that has become part of our culture.
I don't fear the gays, I just find people who want unnecessary attention annoying. It is not necessary to be sexual in high school, either straight or otherwise, even less necessary to try to promote your sexuality as an essential part of your identity, as opposed to your personality and achievements.

Unfortunately true, which is my biggest issue with religion and why I consider myself to be "spiritual" instead of religious. In the end, I think that people don't like what they fear and what they don't understand.

allowing people who identify as transgender to transition decreases transgender suicide rates and victimization rates, which are frankly at disgustingly high levels. meanwhile, in your simple world view where no one should be allowed to do anything until suffering through teenager years as badly as you did, i guess none of that matters.
I felt no need to express my masculinity or heterosexuality when I was young, as a consequence I got good grades, got into a good college, and now have a good job. Oh look, now I can do what I want, because I didn't waste my time trying to convince others to accept me for who I was. Either you want attention or you don't, and people will either seek attention through accomplishments, either academic or athletic, or they will seek attention based on something meaningless such as gender identity. The reason people don't accept trans youth is because they want attention, such as by insisting on special bathrooms be constructed for their use despite the fact that all bathrooms have stalls and can be used privately.

What I really don't understand is why people can't just support LGBTQ+'s, especially young people, instead of trying to discard their feelings for a "phase". You know what's a phase? Going goth. You know what's not a phase? Deciding that you feel more comfortable identifying with the opposite gender than the one you were born as. The key word here is "comfortable", because we're the most comfortable when we're ourselves.
