I just got done re-watching the first season, and I feel no differently about it. They easily could've expanded more on some of Yellow King stuff and the old-timey rural Louisiana approach to Mardi Gras, but it was still outstanding in terms of acting. There's absolutely no way, in my mind, a cast that includes Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell could come close to matching the acting in the first season. I suppose it all depends on the writing though.
All that being said, I'm still pretty pumped for the second season, though fully prepared to be let down.
i dont think s2 will be able to top s1. i recommend you lower your expectations, because colin and vince are just not as good actors imo

For whatever reason, I thought the ending to the first season of True Detective was slightly rushed? I don't know. I liked every single episode leading up to the season finale and I was like "... Oh. That's it? There's nothing else? Bummer."
But that being said, it's still better than Game of Thrones, which is also really good.
i personally would have loved to see the chambers mythos developed more in the first season. all that yellow king stuff? so cool!
all i know about true detective is alexandra daddario was naked on it and that's awesome

I feel like they did well with what they were going for which was instead of making the ending like the rest of the season which was pretty blunt/hardboiled they went about it in a very powerful and emotional way which they did pretty well
