It's not about being good at all. You're already aware of the problem: You're trying to take your FP behaviors and mentality into comp despite the fact that you're aware they get you lynched. This makes you "buttcheeks as town".

Start playing win: You should not press enter unless what you're about to type into chat serves your win condition. You adopt this behavior and you'll become an infinitely better player and start to understand what it takes to win games.

Also reread some of your games, it's not hard to understand why you get lynched.

I thought people asked for help on things they didn't understand, but I guess I was wrong and if you're not immediately good at something you should just give up entirely.

What makes you not "buttcheeks as town"? I assume you mean how to town tell or something of the like.

Thanks to everyone for the advice, it is very helpful and I hope to be improving as a player because of it

You shouldn't. 442 games of FP is too much damage for you to successfully transition, especially with you asking for help with something that wouldn't be a challenge if you understood this game.

The only difference between comp and FP is that you can't be complete buttcheeks as town and still expect to win. If you fix being complete buttcheeks as villager the rest of the game will be pretty easy for you.

33.3% is learning what other players are like and who to dodge in the lobby, 33.3% is figuring out which sets statistically have the best pay-outs over time, and 33.3% is just posting as much as possible because people have an innate tendency to follow the person who says the most stuff.

I'd say 33.3% of success in mafia games is scumhunting, 33.3% is luck, and 33.3% is being able to get your way whether or not you're right

The trick is to not care if you mess up. People are going to yell at you. People will yell at you to manipulate you even if you're doing the right thing. The only way to get good is to play with better players and practice, and the only way to do that is to put on your big boy undies and have thick skin

As far as the mentality thing goes, have you ever seen Wall Street? Gordon Gekko says "Greed is good". In the case of competitive games, pride is good. Even when it borders on false bravado and narcissism

don't do it, competitive games are riddled with pirates

i feel like specifically in that game, the fault lied on gamma's shoulders. I think having a very transparent town game is something that would rarely get you ml'd if that's what you're worried about.

I don't think I did, but even so I seem to get ml'd d1 in like 90% of comp games I've joined because I'm missing some sort of mentality, and I have no idea what it is :/

you did well that game, gamma was horrid.
