I guess I'm not gonna take a hiatus after all since it was no vio'd, but I'd like to open a civil dialogue about fixing spite reporting because I think it's an issue this site has and has had for a while.
Fun factoid: On almost any other multi-player game, whether it be an MMO or a browser based game of some sort, they do not enforce a difficult to define and abstract concept called "Harassment" and instead utilize a feature that both blocks and flags the user.
Are you implying I care how you see me or that you got so upset about a violation that you had to use the classic "threaten to run away" to get your way. If I was a mod I would have let you leave because we all know, you only make it so far before you come back because this is the only place you have to go. So you should prob take that hiatus and re-evaluate your priorities (a swear word).

Epicmafia is the only site in the world where the userbase doesn't want to fix problems with the site because they're worried about how other users might perceive them.

I don't think the epicmafia report system being used as a weapon is a trivial issue when regarding www.epicmafia.com and whether or not you should stop visiting www.epicmafia.com

Germatron: ya, but you know how the forums go. People roam in pacts. If you attack a cub, the mother lion is going to do something about it. I just dont see this as apostasy purposely targeting you. And you cant ask someone on the forums to stop talking to you, and then expect them to ignore you when youre saying confrontational things in a discussion theyre in.
A pact is a promise between two people, a pack is what animals hunt in. Haha, what a dummy!

I refuse to file harassment reports so even if spite reporting can fall under harassment that doesn't help me.
I think the second thing you suggested is a reasonable proposal, though I think it should be more severe.

I think reporting someone in a spiteful/hateful way can definitely fall under harassment. But not by itself.
As for "spite reporting" someone in a game, that obviously isnt enough to be harassment, and we'll never really notice the repeat offenders. Maybe we should start noting people for it and eventually give them report spam.

I bet Giga is posting a bunch of imbecilic nonsense but I couldn't tell you because I use the feature that blocks users if I don't like them, instead of scrounging reports on them and wielding my forum power to try to get them hateful comments for something objectively benign.
I think that often times the report system is successfully used as a tool to troll other users. I don't think I'm imagining this.
