Tier lobbies don't work because they divide the community imo. We already have, in a way, tiered games that players of different skill levels tend to stick to.
Yeah, I feel you. The way the old lobbies were structured (Training/Comp) was that training was meant to be an area for new players to learn the basics before jumping into higher level play, although ultimately most people ended up sticking around and not moving to Comp, which is why now even with the lobbies merged, there is a huge skills gap, and why you have players with 100K points playing the same 'training' setups now.
It's one of those things you just have to deal with. Once you learn who is fun to play with and who to avoid, it's a lot easier to tailor your experience to suit your own enjoyment.
Sure thing - mentoring program is pretty mellow. It's more or less a way to gain access to work with a more experienced player and go over some things. Definitely recommended.
Well it seems to me from what I've seen that unranked lobbies are largely occupied by people just playing to get into ranked (a LOT of alts), then competitive I haven't even dared to try because of all the flaming that seems to go on in the main lobby chat alone. Ranked (Red heart) games seem to be really uneven in skill level which is the problem, five to five thousand games have been played there which just makes for a frustrating experience.
I will consider signing up for a mentor, thanks for the idea bronto
actually, rereading this - i think the issue here is that it is tough to break in as a newbie when you play red hearts with really experienced players who try to run the show.
Honestly the best advice to playing fancy pants or coco's without experienced players is just to be selective about tables.

Tiered lobbies were in existence for a while, and the higher up lobbies became impossible to get into due to the high jump of experience. Therefore the numbers dwindled until thebrontosaurus merged them into Main. Red hearts and playing featured setups will help you get into comp easier. Tiered lobbies do not work
there used to be tiered lobbies, but it didn't really work out.
Typically though, new players stick to unranked and red hearts, whilst more experience go into gold hearts.
You could also sign up for a mentor if you want to up your game as well.
Let me know if you need any help.
