also, it's fun because it presents scum w/ a challenge past faking reads, because their tracker reads aren't actually fake, which wouldn't be the case if you swapped it with a thief or whatever

on the bright side i read what you said, and basically none of the points are relevant w/r/t saying it's a town pointfarm. none of the baselines are mechanically wrong, traitor getting n1'd is as unlucky for scum as any investigative role dying for town in any other setup.
essentially what you're saying is that scum tends to do the wrong thing, which is what happens in every other setup anyway
all of those things that i didn't read are good things, that makes a good set-up fun to play

i really think thief for traitor is the update noobtraitor has needed for a long time. there are just too many disaster outcomes in noobtraitor. janned traitor, traitor not knowing to cc tracker, mafia lynching their own traitor for out towntelling the real tracker, and scum losing a n1 bg flip are all virtual autoloss conditions for scum. replacing traitor with thief removes two of the four, and the setup being frequently played again could take care of a third. the bg flip still exists and is still brutal, but at least it's a low percentage outcome. thief for traitor should take the setup to roughly 53% scum win, in my opinion.
