While I think it's great that new players are attempting to play gold heart games and are trying out set ups besides Fancy Pants and Coco's, I feel that the 1,500 point requirement to joint competition games is a tad too low. I feel there are many players who join comp that are simply not ready for it, and can sometimes make the game frustrating and difficult to play for the other players.
More importantly, however, is that I believe raising the minimum will help to deter gamethrowing alts and ban evaders from messing with the competition as well. No, this won't solve the problem completely, but it might help minimize the situation as it will take longer for newly created accounts to join comp.
That all said, I don't think it should be raised too much, otherwise comp will never be able to renew its player base. I suggests a 500-1500 point minimum point required increase. However, other people may feel differently, so you are free to vote in the poll below. Thanks for reading if you did!!!!
Raise Required Points

The minimum number of points to join competition games should be raised.
I'm gonna have to say keep it the same. It's annoying that a lot of trolls easily get into comp but it's also really annoying to farm accounts into comp as well.
I'd agree to this maybe if lucid allowed alts of linked accounts to bypass the 1500 minimum

seriously make point requesrment bigger. There was a noob in comp, who said if you know the basis its ok to join comp. He had 1600 points, and didn't know the strat for the setup he was playing. We need to prevent this and get more points. I demand at least 5000 to join comp. Also comp smaller setups so they fill >_> <_<
Back when I started playing ages ago training was better. Still, at that point, you needed 2.5k to get into comp. When I hit comp I was disgustingly bad, winning just over 40% of my games.
0 of the time I spent in training helped me improve my play. That happened post-hitting comp.
I'll just write this in a way you understand it; people improve by playing with people better than them. The majority of red heart players are egregiously bad and won't help new players improve. In fact, it's more likely to imprint upon them that a lower standard of play is acceptable.
Tl;dr if you raise the point requirement the skill level of new players upon hitting gold heart games will only decrease.
the terrible setups played by new players is why they're terrible at comp
fix the setups fix the problem

New players are inevitable in both comp and red heart games, I don't see how increasing the required points allowed to enter comp would change this at all.

They join new setups and still have nfi what is going on because new roles. etc etc
Yeah it's logical that you farm the easy set-ups to 1500 points, but for the next 1500 points you decide to flip your set-up choice upside down and play more competitively.

Nah man. Players are entitled to play on their alts instead of their mains in competitive mafia games the same way they are in red hearts games. I can't say "only allow players with 15 unranked games to play in red heart games because they 'give us cancer' and should learn to play better in unranked before they head over to ranked" and continue to state that players who want to play on their alts can go cry in a corner as they wait for their 15 unranked games because they can just play on their mains anyhow. What if a user selfdeletes? What if the selfdeletion is by accident, just like Sachy here? Do we go through a painful time farming classic and fancy pants games just to play our competitive games?
Moreover, fancy pants and classic do not make good players. You hardly learn any setup mechs or scumhunting techniques, the only argument here is that it teaches new players the EM terminology so they won't be lost. They hardly include any comp roles or even comp players, so what's the point?

Farming classic and FP is the reason people are terrible at mafia.
I see nothing wrong with this thread. The mentality of the majority is 'don't change the points lol bc fp and other things'. Raising the amount of points will assure those playing comp will at least have a decent enough understanding of the game to stop giving us cancer. Also I saw so many sus alts today that it wasn't funny. Upvote this. Nothing wrong with waiting longer to play comp. If you want to play on an alt, get over it and play on your main. If you're supposedly thinking about new players, I didn't venture out into comp until I had like 10k points. Fancy Pants is fine when you're new. There are now also double point setups. There are no excuses, sorry.
