euthanasia would be the route i'd go if it was legal and i lived to to my 70s.
I believe a painless death should be an option for those mentally capable of making that decision. As others have said it's beneficial both to the individual and to society. Sure beats spending money to keep a patient in suffering.
The patient should be the one to figuratively pull their own plug, however. Events leading up to the decision and act should probably also be recorded in some way as to avoid coercion, which is a popular argument against euthanasia.
I don't think most people necessarily differ on this issue, only the consequences of accepting it.
Yes, I do believe in Jesus, and God. But I am a very flawed person and I make messes all the time.
Sometimes darkness overwhelms me and I succumb to it, sometimes my fear overwhelms me and I retreat to my old haunts my childhood box. The safety that is my imagination.
But I want to find Truth, and I want to do what is right.
Making these laws just give lawyers a chance to play word-games to defend the indefensible to prey on those without a voice. To oppress the weakest, and most hurting people in their society, to hurt those who need their help.
"I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God."
When you go to the doctor he might not be thinking. I need to help this person. He might think, is he worth saving or would society be better off without him.
Their are days where sometimes you say somebody kill me. But what you really mean is somebody save me, because in that tunnel it's so dark and you can't see the faintest pinprick of light. That the slightest gust of wind, would put you out.
But surviving these trials. Makes us who we are, makes us understand others, and help those who travel roads we have tread before them.
When your friend wants to die, do you hand them a gun and say "Do it!", or do you stand with them through the thick and the thin tell them that there's hope and it will be worth it in the end.
Where people pick and choose who "deserves" to live. Guess one famous place this was practiced? Germany, and that sure ended up great didn't it?
So in this scenario life is no longer sacred, only comfort is. So perhaps your brother has ADD, because he may be labeled disabled and might not enjoy a high quality of life maybe he should be euthanized so he doesn't have to suffer through mediocrity. What about cripples? There is a child born with no arms or legs. We should euthanize him right? We don't want him to suffer. Well did you know there is a man who tours the world with no arms or legs giving motivational speeches?
The thing is how can you place a value on a human life. How do you know what they can be who the will become.
How can you play God?
Finally the government gets involved, legalizing death by doctors get's legislated. Targets get determined for the "good of society".
What about the homeless? Should we euthanize them? What if someone get's too old. Hey, you want to retire? Too bad! That would make you a drain on the economy old man. C'mere it's time to die.
If you believe that someone should be allowed to die if they want to I think that's fine.
There is involuntary.
This has happened already in the past, and every-time the events have been horrific.
They have euthanized, cripples, Jews, children who aren't "fit" to live in society, gays and whoever they wanted.
Here is what one mother who wanted to euthanize her children said: "I will not euthanize my child because it’s too much trouble for me. I will not euthanize my child because the government doesn’t want to pay for it,"
Honestly though it's one of my favourite albums and it's been on my profile several times
