And whenever you have to move the litterbox for ~reasons~, make sure you show the cat where the litterbox is. They'll probably find it without help because they know your domicile better than you do after a week, but still.
every cat I've ever had was just dropped into the catbox as soon as I got home and they used it ever since so I dunno
same, except this guy just prefers my bathtub for some reason.
put the litter box where the cat keeps going
yeah thats not a bad idea. i put the box in my bathtub, lets see what happens.
when it goes there successfully a couple times, start gradually (over a week for example) moving it towards the place where you actually want the litterbox to be.

Cats have a tendency to keep themselves clean at all times and one means of doing so is hiding their faeces + licking themselves, this is why you rarely ever find cat excrement in the outside world.
Have you cleaned the litter box using liner? (cleaning the box using vinegar is another good idea as vinegar neutralizes the smell of urine and is non-toxic to you and your cat).
Pour some scoop-able corncob litter or anything similar that is ecologically clean, absorbs liquid, eliminates smell/odour, prevents bacteria formation, non-toxic and biodegradable.
This should make the cat feel more comfortable and cleanliness using the litter box.
Hope that helps.
new box. ill try different kinds of litter, i guess

Let's hope your cat is vaccinated against Toxoplasmosis. I'm sure you don't wanna be infected by T. gondii when dealing with cat faeces or get crazy cat lady syndrome.

Oh, yeah. Try using different types of litter. My cat won't go near wood-based but is fine with paper-based, etc.

Essentially you have to carry them there when they start pissing and try not to spray it everywhere. Then reward him when he does pee in it (with treats) and scold him when he doesn't.
