im late on this but chit isnt a japanese slur as all, and in fact it's literally impossible to create "chit" by itself with kana; and ive never heard anything about the japanese taking offense to shortening names as the user in question insisted. on the contrary, it's done quite commonly, examples being the names chinami or chiyo would be shortened to chi(i) or chi(i)-chan, and same for the name masaki being shortened to maa.
so tl;dr someone clearly faking being japanese and trying to act like they know about japanese culture when in fact they dont
