Question because I've been in a game or two where this has happened: Is there any advantage to fakeclaiming when you're town and then retracting when you're CC'd?

high level play that used to earn you GT violations when done wrong. nowadays it is accepted (though you still have to do it right)

it depends on the scenario. sometimes it's good to fakeclaim and intimidate mafia into not claiming so that cop/bomb/etc. will be uncc'd. on the other, if you get a bad PR, they'll tunnel you for ages for it. i typically avoid doing so, but when done right it can be a game-winning play. roleswaps are this to a lesser extent as well.
