have you never swam at all? that's nothing. you'll be fine. go swim a bit before doing it.. proper technique is important to demonstrate

I wish you luck quitting smoking, Satan. I've been hooked since I was 14. I've quit 8 times for a few months at a time but I always relapse, I'm probably hooked for life.
good for you, quitting smoking is a big accomplishment. if you're worried about your lung capacity and the time limit isn't that much of an issue, i'd just stick with the breast stroke, but i'm not an expert on competitive swimming

I quit for 3 weeks and everything seemed to have been repaired back to normal by then. You should be good to go at the two-week mark, depending on how much you actually smoked before you quit.
yeah running out of breath is my biggest concern given i've been smoking for the past like 4 years of my life. but i stopped a little over a week ago and plan on just full-on quitting, however a week isn't enough time for my lungs to start working again :[
it's definitely the fastest but i feel like you'd be the most likely to run out of breath doing it. you're probably best off doing that and then switching to breast/backstroke if you get tired
i've been told by some other people freestyle was the most efficient but instead of lifting my head i have to tilt it. which i haven't had time to practice. i was thinking of just switching between breast, back, and freestyle every lap
overall probably the backstroke, but it's also the least practical. i don't know what you're doing that you need to be saving energy but if you're going to be carrying something while swimming, such as a person or an animal, you can't go wrong with the breaststroke :)

just float and hope you get to where you need to go eventually.
