I've played this game for three years and I still have no idea how or when AtE should be used. Heck, I don't even know what is classified as AtE.

AtE = Appeal to Emotion

Could someone explain this better to me/give me some examples? Also I do not really understand this forum setup, so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section

Appeal to Emotion (or AtE for short) can be simply defined as any persuasive argument. While usually used unintentionally, it is sometimes a useful, powerful tool that can be used as either alignment to convince a clear to do something.

em's version of emotional appeals has kind of evolved differently than the standard definition of it, I think. as far as regular arguments go, appealing to emotion is more to sway someone to your side, but I think on epic mafia any real display of anger or emotion is considered "AtE" now, because more often than not someone is going to try to interpret it.

you can try to guilt somebody into voting with you, which would be more like the traditional sense of the term, but I think just playing like a normal person, and not being afraid to get angry is much more realistic

AtE is meant to either make you feel comfortable or uncomfortable, rather than to think. It is a way of manipulating others without relying on logic, but it can be mixed up with it for better results

if you don't know what it is you can avoid using it more easily because it's a really bad trait

It's technically not even persuasive argument. It's self-explanatory really, an appeal to a person's emotions to influence a lynch when all logical arguments cease to exist. Sometimes it's unintentional and legitimate and sometimes it's forced; differentiating between the two can be a key clue in townreading and scumreading.

agreed. when i play it's more of a stream of consciousness thing where i just type what im thinking, and if i happen to be thinking very angry things at the town at the time and that's considered AtE, then So Be It. same applies for when im mafia

Put apart from just failed logic, I.e "Can't you see he voted with mafia last day? He's confirmed!".

There's also other sorts of AtE, such as Caps lock. "I AM MUCH MORE CONVINCING NOW. I AM HONEST SINCE IM WRITING IN CAPS LOCK" < Or whatever other content you get in there,

Or the most strict form, buddying. "We can win this together".or "I trust you to win this for us, SexyGirlXoxo6969".

AtE is an appeal to someone's emotions rather than to their logic. It's the act of trying to convince someone to do something using emotions rather than using logic.

Ex. "You'll regret it if you vote me!" or "Don't hammer me if you want to win." are both appealing to emotion since neither is logical.

These days lots of people generalize it to envelope any attempt that doesn't use logic. Ex. "I always get hammered, you're going to hammer me, aren't you?" would probably classify as well.
