I've not watched it yet, but I was planning on checking out 12 Years A Slave. I can't tell you if it's good or not, but the reviews are promising.

The Raid 2 is far superior imo
Both Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction aged pretty well too but you said she doesn't like old movies
