bronze, silver, and gold lobbies

over 10 years

were actually great ideas, just poorly executed

lucid should have just introduced a player Rating system where you gain rating for winning comp games and lost rating for losing comp games. and where you are able to access different lobbies depending on how much rating you have at the end of a competitive round in that lobby. this means players will actually take games more seriously as you go up in lobby tiers.

in order to ensure that the general player pool actually intermingles just make all non-competitive games main lobby only. in other words, bronze, silver, and gold lobbies will only be active when there is an ongoing round.

the only people who will feel that the system is intense are people who feels the need to be in the gold lobby for every round.

and technically they can't blame anyone but themselves for not being in it

all in all the only thing this accomplishes is that it motivates players from sandbox to play in the main lobby, main lobby players to advance in rating, and eliminates the point cut off which is stupid in essence anyways. all this with the ultimate goal of increasing site traffic and ad revenue, of course.

winners of a round in the gold lobby receives gold trophies, silver lobby silver trophies, etc

also winning a trophy should be more prestigious like having graphical accents around your avatar.

Theoretically, ELO (if it wasn't messed up from the stat split), would enable something like this, but it'll never happen.

Let's give this format a shot. It'll be rocky the first few rounds, but I think long term this is the best solution given current limitations.

This is kinda cool in theory, but super intense and would stratify the community a lot and slow things down.

I'd imagine having a bad round would be like getting relegated in Premier League, which would be hilarious if applied to EM.
