Fool/Lyncher

over 10 years

Why are they so popular in the training lobby? I get lyncher trying to soft a scum read on somebody, but fool just doesn't make sense for games. They don't teach as much as some other 3rd party roles. So why have them?

fool winning by any other mechanic than their own lynch is gamebreaking and why it will always be unviable for competitive play

"i sometimes townside" is not an effective argument to my criticism. the point is that at the end of the day fools don't work like they were designed to in forum mafia. the setups are too small and cookie cutter that there's no room for fool to be anything other than an unlynchable extended mafia member

No it isnt

It's a liability to side with mafia though.

Fool siding with town when he can as easily side with scum should be considered GT

Points matter to an extent. You ultimately want to win, so if mafia has the capability of back stabbing and town doesn't, then winning with town is much more of an incentive.

Although fool setups in comp lobby aren't recycled as much, it's still an essential role in a few setups. It's important to learn the different varieties~

please link a setup that fool doesnt just essentially act as an unlynchable extended mafia member who joints at lylo

I've stayed with my town alignment plenty of times. You're not automatically going to side with mafia.

you are if you care about points

Reverse could be okay if people lynch. Satan has put the requirement of lynches in most of his recent versions of the setup in reverse comp.

Fool/Lyncher should be banned from ranked or at the very least training since they don't encourage competitive mafia but w/e training's original purpose has sailed.

Exactly why I bring this up. I know people will get all salty if fool training 3.0 gets blocked (why is that setup even popular?). From what I've seen there are only a few roles that would seem reasonable for people to play ranked. Cult (with the masons to cc them), killer (it's still a battle to win), werewolf (with some restrictions), amn, traitor, maybe mastermind.

Reverse got polluted because they were afraid to lynch the fool.
