It's a custom schecter omen 8, I really like the quality of their stuff for an affordable price range.
The 7th string gives you a lot more freedom, especially with lower tuning. Another thing I really like about the guitars with more strings is the fret width, I am a grade 8 classically training and 8 string guitars have the same spacing as a classical guitar basically. Which I really like it gives me the space to be able to really do complex stuff fast and have space to move around.
It's especially common in the metal scene to have a 7 string let alone an 8 string for technical metal, if you want to see some great examples of what I mean check out tosin abasi.

If you're really playing seriously, I'd suggest you stick with 6 strings. If you want to pursue music as a career, it just makes you easier to endorse, too.
I play technical metal mainly, so I'm looking for something slick, I'm considering a 8 string but mainly looking at 7 strings atm.
depends on what kind of music you play
